Is it bad that I am so glad Christmas is over? I am ready to get back to a normal schedule. I am off work next week and plan to get back into the gym and focus on me. Not because it is a New Years resolution but because I want to and it makes me feel good. I really have come to the conclusion that I don't like the bad food anymore that I used to love. It doesn't make me feel good. It is kind of a good thing if you ask me. :)

I am so glad it's over, I love this time of the year, but if I see another cookie, cake or candy. I'm going to scream. I did very good, I did not eat sweets but the sight of them made me sick.

I am so glad it is over! Not only is there a ton of food but I become a stress anxiety monster trying to make everyone happy and everything perfect! My finances work Christmas party was supposed to be today but it was cancelled because so many people backed out, I was so excited because I didn't have to go to another pot luck lol. So he brings home a frickin pie and ice cream! I was so excited for things to go back to "normal" lol. Oh well I didn't eat any pie or ice cream but it stared at me for a good minute.

I have had and been told by my Doc Surg that aches and pains will be common until my weight stabilizes after a year because my frame will have to adjust /compensate for the new weight distribution.

Well, my goal for this first holiday season has been to maintain my weight. as of this morning I am down 1 lb :) I'm pretty happy with that. I have eaten anything and everything I've wanted, learned that a few things no longer taste good and I don't feel deprived. I'm almost 90lbs down from last January and that makes me feel fantastic.

I will be going to the doctor next week to see if i can get a referral to physical therapy though. I don't know if it's the weight loss or residual effects from back surgery 10 years ago. My back has been bothering me again (change in center of gravity?) and since I've become more active I've noticed that my left side (especially my leg) is noticeably weaker than my right. (this is the side that was most affected by my back before surgery)

Anyone else experiencing anything similar?

I can say that i blew out my PCL (Posterior Cruciate Ligament ) several years ago and it was a constant bother and my hip would be constantly sore since i was compensating . but once i hit the 100 to 125 lbs mark they are 100% improved.

Hope it improves!! PT is an excellent proactive approach to managing your well being

Congrats on getting through the Holidays with out folding .

RJ

Well, yesterday was my 6 month mark since surgery, so I figured I should post some new pictures. I hope everyone is as happy with their new bodies as I am (even though certainly not perfect)!

You look really nice, keep up the good work.

Hello fellow Junies, I have an update, I am 4 lbs. away from my doc goal of 140 and 9 lbs. away from my personal goal. I've gone from a size 20 to a size 6, I feel great, I look wonderful, I'm not bragging, I'm just super excited. The only issue I'm still battling is my blood pressure, I was hoping I can stop taking meds for this, but it seem as though I can't shake it, my mom has heart problems, so I guess I inherit this condition, but I'm not claiming it, I just have to give it some time, I believe and trust God will deliver me from this, well I hope everyone is on track to where they want to be. Peace!!

P.s. My husband loves the new me, because of my attitude and physical change, it changed his as well. We are loving the new us.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
