Things I will not miss...

FYI Water slides freaking rock when you can just fly down em and not worry about the fire department having to use the jaws off life to pry your fat butt out when it gets wedged in.

I won't miss be the photographer at everything so that I have a reason to not be in the pictures!

I won't miss the paperwork and embarrassment of needing an MRI and cant fit in the darn machine so I have to get an open MRI and the only one available is many miles away and special permission and lots of paperwork is needed for that to happen. It too much so I say forget it, knowing I need that cortisone shot in my back just so I can walk a block down the street unaided!

I wont miss:

Needing a handicap placard for my car.

I wont miss:

When taking pictures, demanding people take only head shots.

I wont miss:

My mom calling me and asking "what are you doing" and I always say "in the bed watching tv". I'm tired and I just dont feel like doing stuff unless I really really have to. Yeah, being fat made me super lazy!

I won't miss the expensive fashion choices in an effort to look good

I won't miss being winded walking across campus

I won't miss pretending to click my airplane belt & praying the flight attendant doesn't catch on

I won't miss worrying if I can fit in roller coaster seats, booths, movie seats, etc

I won't miss feeling like the odd man out when I go out with friends

MOST IMPORTANTLY I won't miss my outside not matching my inside!

A lady I work with (trying to be kind) keeps saying "oh you're going to be a knock out when you're skinnier! You have the most beautiful face" seriously?? She says it every. day. Lol

I get this all the time... "When you lose the rest of that weight you're going to be a knock out"... or "Your husband wont know what to do with you when you get skinny"...... OMG! Drives me nuts!

Ooh I thought of more:

I won't miss my buttons popping on my shirt

Wearing undergarments to lock in the rolls

Crossing my legs at the knees & not the ankles

Sweating just by dialing a phone number

Buying chafing cream

i can see me in every list. I dont sweat anymore...i freeze, but thats ok... I love it!

I can do so much more now with 100lbs off...looking forward to doing even more with the next 100lbs off!

Best thing is my family is getting smaller too! both my husband and daughter are losing weight and exercising with me!! We're a "health nut" family now! Who knew we could swap all that processed junk for some fruits, veggies and Proteins and LOVE IT. We make trips to the farmers market now instead of the fast food places. Little changes at a time...but we're doing it!

That's me, too! There are no pictures of me with my family over the years. I am always behind the camera and no one ever knew why.

This made me sad <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' /> your kids were embarrass of you? My oldest never mention anything to me but I do feel she sorta was cuz now it's more of mom lets take photos together. Meet my friends lets go out. Come to school meetings I always did but I can tell she loves the compliments that's your sister. She holds my hands this is a 16 year old. She shows me off or tells me fix your hair or where this. She borrows my shirts & says we are the same size.

Thats a wonderful rare 16 year old girl- you are so lucky!

Being always hot at work while the skinny girls turn up the heat and complain of being cold. I keep threatening to strip down to my bra and panties. I brought a fan of my own in, its the only thing that makes it tolerable.

Ditto ditto ditto to everything else!

I dont know--- my extra weight gave me a lot of momentum, shot out of the Water slide like a cannonball! My mom snorted and laughed so hard...

And I am extra bouyant when i snorkel, but gonna need a big paddle board to float on when the seal blubber goes!

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
