Band to RNY....Failure to Success?

Recommended Posts

My surgery is scheduled. Now for the worry part....will this work? I pray this is the answer after this darn band! 5 years of trying to make it work, vomiting, stuck, pain, sliming....horrible. I hope to meet some longer term revisionistas who can tell me this works! This will finally help me!

The other side has it complications, but it is so worth it. I thankfully?!? don't get dumping very often. Tomato Soup did it ( I didn't even THINK to check sugar content) and I had a sweet bread that did me in! I didn't faint just rapid heartbeat and a bit dizzy.

Ask any questions:-)

Thanks! I am cautiously optimistic that this revision will work for me. I am a bit scared about dumping syndrome. I need to research to find out what is going on to make you feel that way? It sounds awful although I know if may be weird but I hope the minute I try to cheat and eat crap food I get it bad! LOL

I am new to here, I had the band for 2 years and lost 80 pounds and then got so much acid it caused me to !ose some teeth. Found out it was cutting into my stomach. Had a revision to bypass on Feb 17 th and found out band got wrapped around bottom of my heart. So glad I had it removed.

I'm getting a revision as soon as my pre-op testing is complete, I've had the band since 2007 (repaired leak 2008) and it slipped 2 months ago...I'm so ready to get rid of it, it just never really worked for me.

I had band in 2009. I've lost 150 lbs. down to 270. But it caused me to develop gastrparesis and pyloric valve spasms so my stomach has basically stopped digesting all food. It goes in and sits for days. Feel nauseous and vomit continually. So they've pushed thru a RNY in 2 1/2 months. I have it in two weeks. Problem is I missed all the pre op education usually associated with the surgery so feeling very nervous. Done lots of research on my own but not the same as professional instruction. Dr says to expect a rough surgery because of the shape my stomach is in. Doesn't exactly reduce ones anxiety does it?

I'm almost two weeks post op from my revision. It's had its challenging moments I won't lie but after five years of dealing with lapband issues I'm beyond glad to have that crap out of my body. Ended up with a band slip, severe GERD, and Barrett's esophagus

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
