I had the sleeve done in 2009 and I lost about 70lbs but in the past year I have regained most of the weight back. I am now in the process of doing all the pre testing to do the bypass but i have so many concerns that I'm just confused as to weather I should have the surgery. I keep hearing that having revision surgery puts you at a higher risk for complications and gastric leak. I keep telling myself that its just like having any other surgery and there will always be a risk but I'm still scared to death. Has anyone here had sleeve to gastric bypass revision? I hope to here from someone just to hear from someone that had gone through the experience and maybe can share some pointers.

I go in for Bypass on Nov 21st, Not what I wanted but, I have come to terms that I have to do something. I am below my goal weight and still can NOT eat. and hard to keep fluids down.

Girl...I don't know what you should do to fix the problem...but I do know I'm scared for you to have the bypass....ugh...so scared. Please keep us posted.

I am a revision I have had two bands a sleeve and now bypass. I just wish I had gone with the bypass first! I am 6 weeks post op lost 20 kilograms and doing great so good luck

Im glad I found this thread..I hope some still come here...I am being revised on aug 1st, had the band then the sleeve, now bypass....I too am so very scared...It looks like not too many revisions on here and not alot of chat...Misslala05 did you have your surgery yet? I haven't been on here in months till I got a notification a few minutes ago in my e-mail. Just wanted to give everyone a quick update.

I'm one of the success stories. I had my revision August 31st 2013, almost a year ago, and hit my goal weight by new years day. I've been losing and gaining the same 5 pounds since then and as we speak I'm 1 pound below goal. No pain in my tummy, I eat small but satisfying portions and I don't have any health issues. I'm so happy I did the revision

It's such a relief after the failure that my sleeve was. I should have just done the bypass in the first place.

Hi Loopy, I'm scared to death, I didn't get the bypass in 2008 because of all the complications , now my weight is out of control and I just want my life back I'm so uncomfortable,, everything hurts. I just hope and pray that I get through this with out any issues or complications. I often ask myself if its worth it, I wonder what my quality of life will be if I don't get it done, I'm so scared that I will be the one out of whatever that doesn't make it. But I have to let go and let god.

The sleeve has been successful for me, no complications/issues whatsoever. It's just that when I had it done it was a revision for a band that had very severe complications and left my stomach in horrible shape (not to mention stretched in the exact place the pouch goes). My pouch will never be as small as it should be, for this reason, which just means I can eat a lot. I can eat almost full size meals (not 2 meals though, like I used to pre-surgery!), especially if I don't eat dense Protein FIRST (that's key). That caused a lot of mental distress for me, because I knew I could eat more than half a cup--easy--and it made me feel ashamed and sad and out of control. But I have a lot of mental issues with food and eating, as you can see, so none of these things would necessarily happen for someone else! The sleeve itself is great, and has been great, and I'm sure you'll LOVE it and do great!!!! Good luck!

THIS ACTUALLY MY FIRST POST. I ANSWERED A LOCAL MEETING POST. I'M IN A SUBURB OUTSIDE OF CHICAGO IL.

I'M DENISE. I HAD LAPBAND SURGERY IN 2008. IT DIDN'T WORK FOR ME. I LOST APPROX. 40 POUNDS AND REGAINED IT. I REACH MY SWEET SPOT FOR A MINUTE MAYBE THE 3RD MONTH, BUT THE DOCTOR HAD AN INEXPERIENCED TECH DO MY FILL AND IT WAS ALL DOWN HEEL FROM THERE. I DON'T REALLY KNOW WHAT HAPPENED. I DO KNOW THE DOCTOR FINALLY SAID THE TECH DIDN'T HIT MY PORT. AFTER THAT I STARTED HAVING BOUTS OF NO RESTRICTION & THE BAD ACID REFLUX DANCE. AT ONE POINT THE HEADBOARD OF MY BED WAS POSITIONED SO HIGH UP; WE SLID OFF THE BED. LOL! I STARTING BECOMING SO FRUSTRATED AND EATTING AROUND THE BAND.

FAST FORWARD TO 2014. THE DOCTOR DID AN UNFILL ON MY BAND 4/1/14 (HAPPY APRIL FOOLS DAY). I HAD SOME ESOPHICAL DAMAGE, BUT NOW I'M SCHEDULED TO HAVE THE BAND OUT AND RNY REVISION 8/27/14. OH HAPPY DAY. I AM BOTH EXCITED & NEVEROUS. NOT ONLY BECAUSE OF THE DANGER OF THE SURGERY, BUT BECAUSE THIS JUST HAS TO WORK. YOU KNOW? ALSO I WON'T KNOW UNTIL I WAKE UP IF HE WAS ABLE TO DO BOTH SURGERIES. WELL I'LL KEEP YOU POSTED. PRAY FOR ME!!!!!
