Hiya

My date is 17 April. Currently on my pre-op liquid diet. And I have turned into a weird monster person whom I do not know!

I am crying so much, dear goodness!

Is this normal?

I am struggling extremely with the pre-op diet. It doesn't help that I am lactose intolerant and never drank milk or ate yoghurt. Now it is basically all I am having. Plus I stopped smoking cold turkey on 1 January. I am craving those damn cigarettes! It is making me crazy.

ALSO, I am using only a third of my anti-depressants dosage daily (the doctor wants me to use much less, also in preperation for after the op, when I can only drink a valium syrupy tipe thing). My tablets is slow release, so I won't be able to even crush it. So I am weaning my system off it gradually, but I think it is happening too fast perhaps.

Any of you so emotional? It is cold and rainy where I am. And Aunty Flo came to visit since yesterday (after she has been missing in action for MONTHS)! belly aches so badly!!!!

I want to cry all the time.

Dammit!

I'm currently 1 week in on a 2 week liquid diet! Started the diet the day I started my period! I feel you girl!! I'm not pre op yet, but I'm also emotional all over the place!!!!!!!!!!! I snap at everybody!! I went off on a guy yesterday on the phone because he couldn't understand what I wanted! I'm still on my Prozac though. My Dr. hasn't said anything about weaning me off it. So, all I can say is STAY STRONG!!!!

Let me say I completely understand. This pre-op has got me snapping at everyone around me. I haven't lost much weight in the last week due to friggin Aunt Flow showing up outta nowhere, and that is making me want to cry everyday.

We have been eating healthy as a household for about 3 months preparing for my surgery, but I caught my husband hiding KFC and eating chicken wings like a crackhead because he is starving since I don't have the will to cook without being able to eat, too. Poor man is losing more weight than I am!!!

I did great the first week, now I am drooling at every commercial on TV and am craving solid food. I am trying to stay strong by counting down the days but it is really hard. I practically had to choke down the shakes today. I have meds that I have to take, and it is hard to get those down too. I empathize completely.

bwhahahaha, hiding kfc like a crack addict!! hahaha! yes my poor partner is also suffering ;-) hehehe

Do not get me started on the commercials on TV. !!!

HOPEFULLY I will have a big loss at the end of the week, as this fool Flo has me not losing weight and I am trying my darndest with this liquid diet.

I picked up weight since 4/5 months ago when I went for my first Doctor's appointment, as I stopped smoking, and that was TOUGH AS HELL!

Almost back to the weight I was and praying that I am a few pounds under by next week. Oh dear God I am so scared the Doctor throws me out!

I did the best I could! Oi joi.

Crkrjax76 - i had to laugh when I read about your phone call yesterday, the same happened to me! Poor guy on the phone, I really gave it to him, a little monster I was!

Shame, the poor guy.

I did apologise later and was very nice to him but dammit, it is the medical aid with which I have been struggling for 2 weeks to get some service from them!

wait I have to work a bit, talk again soon ladies.

Good luck and stay strong!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
