How about some NSVs!?!?

Recommended Posts

Just a small win, but it made me super happy. Stopped wearing a few pairs of jeans I loved because they were a little too snug and uncomfortable. Not only can I wear them fine now, but they are actually sagging and loose in the waist. I'm glad to be able to wear them again, even if it is only for a short while, potentially.

My pile of clothes that are now too big for me is growing, and getting bigger than the pile I plan to wear after I lose all my excess weight.

@@RJC5197 - if you haven't already, start a new clothes budget/saving! I wasn't prepared for how much I would lose, so fast (surgery was in March and I'm down 77 lbs today). I've given away 6 bags of clothes so far.

Congrats on the loss so far. I recommend keeping at least one pair of the big pants/jeans. I kept the jeans I bought like 2 weeks before surgery (size 52!) and have taken a couple of After photos in them. It's mind-boggling! I think I'll try to keep them as a reminder of where I was and how far I've come.

Down 98 pounds and my trunk is full of bags of clothes I will be donating to Goodwill. I told my sister I was going to wear my large clothing until my pants wouldn't stay up any longer but had to give in because those baggy clothes just started looking plain weird. Lol. Ive been shopping in just little bits and pieces because I don't want t to spend much money on clothing until I get to my goal weight. I've noticed some little things too. Like my arms lay against my sides, all the way down. I can cross my knees again. Subtle differences that just surprise me when I notice them the first time. Then some big ones like it isn't excruciatingly painful to get on the floor to look for something that rolled under my bed. At seven months out my energy has just taken off! I'm not doing everything I would like to, but I'm able to nudge myself along to keep doing more and keeping at it a little bit longer each day. It's all good!

Hi all.

Here's my latest NSV. First though, I will start with an SV. I hit Onederland!!! I have now lost 86.9 pounds total.

That SV sets the stage for my NSV! I attended a birthday party of a good friend who I hadn't seen much of lately. WE both have very busy lives and hadn't gotten together since January. Not only that, but most of my friends who I know through him I hadn't seen since before surgery. The number of double takes, not to mention people who never quite seemed to figure out who I was, was such a surprise to me. In fact, one of the guys who didn't seem to get it figured out, usually gives me a hug when I see him, but I barely got a hi out of him last night and he seemed like he couldn't quite place me! It was pretty crazy. I guess I see myself everyday in the mirror so although I am smaller, I just don't see THAT much difference in overall looks, just smaller space occupation! I guess its kind of remarkable when you haven't look at it in the mirror everyday!

We have spent so much time outside this summer doing family activities. Bike rides, picnics, playing in the park, camping. I can't believe the difference it has made in the quality time I am spending with my family. And I am still able to keep up on housework and my husband isn't having to do the majority!

Im training for my first half marathon which is set for Sept 11th of this year! My 1 year post op is September 30th!

Who woulda thought that in ONE year I went from "the fat girl who couldn't run" to "100 pounds down going 13.1"

I am so excited for the challenge. I could barely walk a 27 minute mile before, now I can run almost 5 miles without having to stop. My fastest mile is 7:30 now :)

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
