How about some NSVs!?!?

Recommended Posts

Prior to surgery I wore a size 50 waist pant...

...yesterday I put on a size 38. And they fit well. I'm 7 weeks out.

I may have had a sudden onset of "allergies".

So I went shopping for a new blouse, I was size 24 two months ago at the time of the operation, I thought why not try the 20 and see. It fit very well, so I thought maybe just in case try the 18, if it is a little snug I will get it and it will fit properly by the end of the month.

Not only did the 18 fit perfectly, it may actually get too wide in a months time! I walked out of the store with such a huge smile :D

May we all continue to experience these little victories :D

Leticia,

NSV is non scale victory. Examples are crossing your legs (something a lot of us could not do for a long time), walking without getting short of breath, no longer needing a seat belt extender to fly on a plane; things like that.

I'm in training all day and I have to sit in the standard chairs and my thighs are not coming out on the sides. I keep looking at my lap and smiling because the chair feels big.

When I started running in January I would run/walk intervals and be so excited when it came time to walk. I am actually running 4:1 intervals and probably don't really need the walk intervals anymore!

Have you seen the couch to 5k app? It'd a great app, coaches you during your whole workout and takes you up to running a 5k

I did the C25K and used the app. It was very helpful. I am now training for a marathon and following the plan the team uses. We are currently building base and running intervals. Last weekend was rough because of the smoke from the forest fires, but otherwise, its been really great. I have my next 5k in early June and plan to run the whole thing, although its a hilly course so we'll have to see.

Bought a pair of size 14 jeans over the weekend thinking I'd put them up and maybe be able to wear them in a few months. I tried them on for the heck of it and they fit really well now!!! I was a 24/26 at surgery. [emoji4]

Months ago I had said on this thread that the reflection in the mirror wasn't who I was inside. This morning as I was changing out of tops because they were too big I actually looked in the mirror and liked what I saw. BLESSED and THANKFUL [emoji16][emoji120]????

yall, this is exactly my nsv, too. so, i was snuggling with my hubby, and i lying on top (don't worry, we're clothed, this is totally safe for work lol), and i said "why is this so uncomfortable?" it turns out that i was still holding myself up as if i was trying not to bear all my weight on him. i've lost 125 lbs, and my body still felt the need to prevent itself from crushing my partner LOL. my mind was truly blown at just how mental this world is, you know what i mean? ahh, this journey is so fun.

The seat belt and booth thing are a very big deal I'm only 3 weeks post op but I lost 40 pounds before surgery and 17 since surgery so 57 pounds I can also enjoy these perks. Oh and turning over in bed and sleeping on my stomach!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
