  1. 1. Knowing what you know now about weight loss surgery, would you do it again if you had the chance to make your decision again?

    • Yes, without a doubt! The surgery has been everything I’d hoped for.

    • Yes, probably. The journey hasn’t been easy, but I’m losing weight and feel that this was my best option.

    • Yes, but I would have chosen a different type of weight loss surgery.

    • No. I’ve had complications and my health has suffered and/or I haven’t been hitting my weight loss goals.

    • I haven’t had the surgery yet, but I’m looking at the results of this poll carefully to help me make my decision!

In a heartbeat. Best decision in my life.

Ditto. I'm only 17 days out and already seeing results that make me happy. :-)

Although I had a bumping beginning, my surgery has been the best decision I have made for my health and life. My only regret is I didn't do it sooner...I love my results, my health is better, I can breathe, sex is excellent, shopping is easier and most important i feel better and look better...

Would I do it again?...my answer is ... yes in 2 heartbeats I would!!!

7 years out and would do it again in a heartbeat. Would I change things had I known what I know now? Absolutely. I would have done low carb to

Maximize my loss and would have gone under my goal to give myself some bounceback room. I also wish i would have done it earlier!

NO!!!! my surgery was may 1st two months ago today and unfortunately I've had nothing but problems. Throwing up, dizziness and horrible stomach pain. My doctors are actually talking about reversing it! I've been in the hospital since may 1st and just came home Friday with a home nurse, I have a picc line that feeds me Vitamins and Protein 24hrs, guess my protein is to low and before reversing I have to have good protein levels or I won't heal. So Yes I regret having it done and I'm sooooo jealous of Anyone that hasn't had complications, so to all of you good luck on your weight loss journey!

If they reverse it that means you will not lose weight unless you are gonna join a gym & have a dietician to help you with losing weight or did you give up all together? I know you had surgery for the best but after knowing your body couldn't handle it what are your plans now? I honestly don't want you to stay over weight. I know there is options for those that surgery didn't work for them.

I jad a lot of complications (not as severe as yours but once I got passed the 4th month I got much better! Everyone kept telling me to just give ur body time to heal and I didn't believe them cause I couldn't eat or keep anything down and I was in pain all the time but after the 4th month things started to slowly get better and now I can finally eat but on occasion I still have to lay down after I eat and rest! But I would do it again without a doubt but if you would have asked me before I would have said no way!

I would totally do it again!! I had high blood pressure for years and now it's normal and I still need to loose another 50lbs. I am being retested soon for my sleep apnea!! Yeah!! I can now walk 3 miles no problems. Before walking... Ya right.. Not I go to the gym for Water aerobics 2 times a week. I've signed up for the Color Run 5k in my area in September!! Loving my new healthy active lifestyle And I'm not done yet!!! So great!!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
