I found out yesterday I am severely deficient in Vitamin D and have to go to my primary care physician to treat it (Yet ANOTHER Dr. appointment). I had the same problem two years ago. Also my liver results were questionable but I already knew this. My cholesterol meds are known to cause the problem so my endocrinologist took me off it a few weeks ago and is testing me every couple weeks to make sure levels go back to normal before changing my meds. Will this delay surgery? I'll be asking my coordinator Tuesday but I'm agonizing over it now.

Also I'm REALLY worried about the stress test Tues. The appt is three hours long and involves a treadmill. My lower back hurts if I walk or if I am on my feet too long. I just want to fast-forward to surgery and GET IT DONE.

Tell your dr they can give you a Necular one that you don't have to go on treadmill just call and tell them you don't think you can do it on the treadmill sometimes they start on treadmill and have to switch to the other cause people can't do it

Yes, the instructions that came in the mail said drink lots of Water and no food the day of testing. I gave up coffee two weeks ago at my dieticians suggestion... would look forward to one last one. They MAKE your heart race? That sounds uncomfortable. Why do they do the test twice? I have the first this Tues and the second next Tues.

I was very Vitamin d deficient about a year ago and wad told to take ten thousand iu of vitamin d per day for two months and then would get a recheck. My deficiency came from not going outside and also due to the depo privera shot for birth control.

I was also told I my vit. D is low and am taking a supplement. I have LBBB so I was not allowed to walk on the treadmill (it can mess up the results). I was really worried about this, but it really was no big deal. After the test before the final pictures, they told me to eat and drink caffeine. I was fine by the time I left. The tech told me they now use a different med. which doesn't give you the same feeling the other one did. It will be ok.

One thing I forgot to mention is you are only on the treadmill for a very short time ( I think 10 minutes or less). There is a lot of waiting during those 3 hours.

Thank you! I was very worried that it was the whole time, or even most of it. I have no idea what to expect. I feel a little better about it if it's small amounts of time.

I really don't know what's up. I know it's standard for my doctor to require a stress test on people over fifty. All I know is I have two three hour appointments. I got my appointments by voicemail, followed by written instructions in the mail. I will ask more questions at the first of the appointments. Thank you for the info. I also feel a little better about being D deficient. It sounds like it's not comepletely unheard of. Two years ago I was diagnosed witht he same deficiency and needed 50,000 whatever they are each day for a week and I thought that was the end of it. I never go in the sun because I am sun-sensitive (I get a rash wherever I get sun exposure). That could be a contributing factor.

They did my EKG when I went for my labwork and chest x-ray last week.

For the stress tests I've had they put an IV in and then you wait about 45 minutes for the med to go through. They then take pictures and you wait again. They had us eat crackers and drink Water while you wait. Then you go on the treadmill or have the med. and you wait again. That's when they wanted me to eat and drink caffeine. Back in for more pictures and then you are finished. Bring something to read. It's always harder when you are not sure what to expect.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
