March 2013 Post Op "A New Life 2013"

Down 30 pounds since surgery 3/11/13' date=' but the scale has not moved in days, and I'm trying to remain calm. I'm getting in all my Protein & Water, and my calories are running 500-600, w/ the goal of about 800 per my NUT. I have multiple sclerosis & have not exercised, literally, in years. This week I started low impact water aerobics & chair yoga. Could I be building muscle already? Or am I just being too much of a nut about the scale? I'm trying not to be crazed but failing!![/quote']

You maybe building muscle and muscle weighs more than fat I wouldn't worry too much your only in the beginning. You'll get there :)

I just wanted to thank everyone who kept my dad and family in their prayers !!! He went from being told they couldn't fix his heart and he was going to die to finding the best aortic cardiologist surgeon on the east coast!! He had surgery to repair his torn aorta Thursday and is recovering well!! They expect him to be able to go home next week and make a full recovery soon!!! God is amazing!!!

Yes he is! Praise God I'm glad to hear!!

Ok it's been a few days since I posted. I am still in the hospital. Been here since the 25th exactly one week after I was released. No end in sight yet. They were talking releasing me on Friday, then Saturday, then Sunday. Not thinking Sunday is going to happen either. Bummer. Yesterday they took away my PAC? Diludid? No weaning off nothing just took it. Boy did I have a reaction to that. Chills, shakes, vomiting, you name it I had it. Couldn't even drink Water without having it come back up. Yesterday was just pretty hard. I want to go home to my husband and dogs. Start living normally again. I am just hoping that this is not the type of journey I signed up for. I thought I really really thought that I would be feeling better by now. :/ just depressed I guess. Two weeks away from home does that to you.

Your lucky mine told me to get in 60-65! I'm doing it but its hard I'm paranoid about my hair falling out my sister had surgery back in Nov and because she's not getting all her Protein in her hair is falling out :(

Oh heavens. I am addicted to tuna fish right now and shrimp so it does give me a lot of protein even if I don't make a Protein Shake. Yea my nut said by 6 months I will be up to 60 grams of protein. Someone on the march website put up something called protein 100. Maybe look into that.

2 weeks post op tomorrow. Feel awesome and am not on any pain meds. Feel 100%. All wounds are healing up great. Only issues am having is head hunger. No feelings of being full at all. Sometimes get a bit frustrated about that as not satisfied. Eating about 2 oz pureed until soft food intro on the 18th at my one month follow up. How much is everyone else eating at this point?

Well I'm almost 4 weeks post op, and I'm having about 3 times what you are on my Puréd food side. And I'm managing just fine. Weightloss is coming off slowly, but I guess slow is better than super fast. I'm hoping not to have to much loose skin.

I increase my intake this coming Tuesday. I'm mainly happy about that cause I can have more Protein. And don't have to Puré everything.

I have lost 29lbs so far.

Still have a long way to go (117lbs), but I'm glad it's coming off. When I lose my next 8lbs I would finally weigh what I did 13years ago. That is crazy right?

Day 13 of hospital stay. Still wanting to go home. Can't keep fluids down at all. Not ice chips, water, nothing. Blood pressure this morning only 95/60. So they are pushing fluids in me like crazy. Now found out I have a rash on my arm. Maybe from antibiotics, but they are not sure. Feel like I took twenty steps back. I was doing so well I could do laps around the floor like crazy. Now I did half a lap yesterday had to stop twice and when got back to room couldn't stop dry heaving. On a brighter note maybe I will get a shower today. Hoping it gets better so I can go home tomorrow.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
