March 2013 Post Op "A New Life 2013"

Frankly' date=' that sounds delicious!! I'm still stuck on this disgustingly unfulfilling liquid diet!!! I'm open week post op on Friday.[/quote']

There must be something wrong with my doctor. I only get 2 days of liquid. Then its pureed for for 2 weeks then 6 weeks of soft foods. I don't even see him until a month after surgery.

I had my surgery yesterday and doing well so far. I do not have much pain until I get out of bed and today I was able to go full liquids today. No nausea. Did get dizzy a bit today but I think it was because I over did it showering so they had to wheel me back to my room. Doing fine now.

Day 3 post RNY. I've managed to get down 360 mls Clear Liquids more during the night. Still have some nausea, haven't passed gas but I can feel it rumbling in there! The abdominal pain is brutal, though. ESP the left side. My surgeon said they had to clean up a lot of adhesions while they were i there so maybe that's why I still have such pain. I'm afraid to advance the diet for fear I'll vomit, which would be excruciating. I keep thinking just get through this week & things will get better.

I'm on day one of clear liquids also. I loved jello before, now the jello and broth just taste icky and I can't handle it. I can drink the heck out of some decaf tea and Water though. Hang in there. I think that being hungry thing will improve. I'm glad I haven't had that so far. I'm thinking about you and wishing you a speedy recovery.

Thank you so much -- I think some of this is me living with family n smelling everything driving me wild knowing I simply can not have it :x --

Did my measurements today: so far 27 days ago I'm down only 5 pounds but I've lost 22 1/2" all across my body- I can feel a little bit of the difference, but the biggest part is seeing it on paper - I'm going to do it again the DOS and then with each doc visit

That left side hurts for a while....mine still bothers me over a week later...BUT it's very manageable and you just have to be careful. Icing it really helps...I used that in the hospital and it made a significant difference...

It finally happened. I cried. I keep telling myself no regrets...no regrets....but dang it sometimes a girl just wants to be able to eat fried chicken and fart. Ughh...sorry about that visual. I suppose this horrendous left sided belly pain will be around a few more days. Any advice getting through "hell week"?

I'm not sure i have any exact advice for hell week, but on day 4 I had almost a night and day change for the better. I'm day 6 right now, and feel great- a little weak and shaky maybe from lack of food, but otherwise good!!

The pain meds I was given didn't really help, but the anti-inflammatories did a smidgen of help. For the gas and bloating, I'm downing gas x and papaya enzymes. Seems to be helping a lil with that. Good luck!!!

For my friends farther out: how long does the back and shoulder pain last? My abdomen is not sore, I am not really nauseous, but my back is killing me. Any tips or tricks?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
