I agree that the syntrex nectar very cold are the best. I usually mix mine with a scoop and a half of Protein Powder 12 oz of Water a few ice cubes and then I still put it in the fridge for a bit. I love them though. I am only using strawberry Kiwi. Might have to try the lemonade one thats sounds awesome..

I tried the Fuzzy Navel last night and dumped it! But I think maybe after I shake it up, I'll put in the fridge to settle down. It was foamy, and that bothered me. Maybe once they are settled, I can drink them.

I found it is best to stir the Protein in really well otherwise it does get foamy. I stir most of it and then shake just a bit and I get just a little foam on top but nothing too bad.

Pink Grapefruit nectar was the least Protein aftertaste to me! But like everyone else, I mix and refrigerate.

If I have time I stick mine in the freezer for 30-45 minutes' date=' if I don't have time (which is my norm) I go for crushed ice....certainly can't hurt to try the fridge!!!!!

I always put a couple of ice cubes in mine. That is the only way I can drink it.

I bought one of those shaker cups with the metal whisk ball in it. That's what I've been using to mix it.

Speaking of ice, if you live near a SONIC drive in, go buy the 10# bag of their ice -- pelletized -- they sell it like any other store in bags. Keep it for blending, it is way easier than cubed.

I'm with you - I HATE PROTIEN and dislike shakes of any type. Additionally I am allergic to whey.

I'm reading up on the recipies here and happy to see discussions about chkn broth!

I have to weed through this all and get some info. The Vega One protien powder I use requires a large amount to reach the protien needed and it's expensive! Its all gross to me though <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />

There is Soy isolate Protein at GNC. It don't smell or taste... I put it in my iced tea... Taste nothing. You can even put it in your pancake mix, eggs, ect.

Someone told me their surgeon wanted them to use Whey protein... But I guess everyone's different.

Jannyb35 -- yes, I am having a bit of trouble with milk too, read somewhere that a good percentage of people become lactose intolerant after RNY, so I switched to either Water, lactose free milk, unsweetened almond/soy milk or sugar free juices from health food store. Doing a bit better on those mixed with the chocolate.< /p>

I agree with lots of you on the Syntax nectar Brand. I buy the lemon tea & it was definitely a life saver from the normal heavy Protein shakes. 1 scoop is 25 grams of Protein & I use 12-16oz of Water in my Blender Bottle with 2 tsp of BeneFiber (which helps hold it together) and a couple ice cubes. shake it up really well & then scoop off the foam. I'm drinking this every day and love it. sometimes I add 1/4 packet of crystal light just to change up the flavor, but I don't think it needs the added sweetness.

My sister gave me a great recipe to make a hot tea - which I really enjoy too.

Mix the following in a dry mixing cup

1 scoop nectar lemon tea

2tsp Benefiber

1 packet Orange Crystal Light (I don't use this part)

1 tsp cinnamon

1/4 tsp ground cloves

1/4 tsp ground ginger

Add a little bit of tap Water into the mix to make a paste - then add 20oz hot water down over the top

Stir with a small wisk until fully dissolved

Strain into a cup or travel mug (this helps take some of the extra grit or chunks that didn't dissolve out)

*Only other note is don't let it sit for a long time otherwise it will settle to the bottom. Continuous stiring helps too.

Try the Syntrax Nectar Cappuccino latte. I am on my second tub cuz I love it. It really tastes like cappuccino and I can not taste the Protein at all. I order it from Amazon. I also dont find it so sweet as some others.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
