Tired :(

Recommended Posts

I'm 1 month post op today and still have no energy to work out or even walk on a treadmill. Before surgery I was very active and had plenty of energy. I take all my Vitamins, get in most of my Protein goal and drink fluids constantly. Did anyone else feel this way?

I'm 1 month post op too and I have 0 energy. I usually have to force myself. I just walked a few blocks to the supermarket and was utterly exhausted when I got there. I hear it gets better as time goes on but for now I say we just have to push ourselves.

It's that way for awhile the decreaed calorie intake, major surgery. I didn't feel like myself for a good 2 months if not longer. Just take it easy until ya feel like yourself, body's way of telling ya to relax.

My nutritionist said the fatigue is normal and your bodies way of telling you to rest and take the time to heal. I'm finally gradually getting back to feeling normal-still a ways to go-can finally walk for more than 5 min without having to lie down, but its been a slow process. Still get light headed. My surgery was Jan 14th.

Thanks! I'm finally starting to get a little more energy. Tomorrows goal is to start a walking program. I'll be 5 weeks post-op and feel a bit behind.

I was exhausted for about 6 weeks. It seemed like it was all I could do to go to work all day and drive myself home but then one day I woke up and was feeling more like my old self. I've been to the gym just about every day for a week. It's nice to finally have some energy again, but give yourself the time you need to heal.

have you tried getting a B12 shot. I know that's 1 of the shot so wanted to have.

I'm actually taking B12 tabs everyday. I think the Vitamins are kicking in now. I'm feeling alittle stronger and even walked 20mins on the treadmill today. Still took a short nap after dinner.< /p>

I also think the B12 and Iron is really helping. Finally, not freezing and can stay awake all day. I still feel like a nap after I exercise but feeling strong.

Nurse TAB, if you Don't mind me asking how long were you off of work. I'm a nurse on a Busy unit and am wondering if 6 week recovery and time off of work is enough

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
