Pre-Op Liquid Diet is a fail for me, HELP!

I am completely approved for surgery all I need to do is get to my goal weight of 298. I am currently at 311 lbs. I was put on a liquid diet by the P.A. At my surgeons office. I cannot for the life of me, stick to it. I keep sabotaging myself and I'm so afraid I'm not going to have surgery. I don't know what else to do. I don't know why I keep cheating. I want this so bad. I keep getting stuck right around this weight and can't seem to get out of the 300's, which is so depressing. Please tell me what to do. I am so afraid to face the P.A. And see what my weight is this Thursday and tell her I've been cheating AGAIN. Obviously this liquid diet is making me hungry as hell and I'm cheating. What should I do??

Ooooohhh I'll try that broccoli cheese soup. I got tonight the restaurants Au Jus and am going to mix that with cream of mushroom. Thought that sounded good. Of course the AuJus will be good also.

My surgery is in four days!!! At my preop physical i asked if I had to do the liquid diet and the pa said no. I was confused because I have read so many people's comments and so I was concerned I missed something. I just have to do the liquids the day before. My surgery is at a bariatric center of excellence so I guess they no what they're doing... Anyone else not have to do the liquids 2 weeks before?

The reason I was given for the liquid diet was to shrink the liver. They have to operate around the liver and it makes it easier for the surgeon. I too am going to a center of excellence due to Medicare paying. That is one of their requirements.

Me too... Easy to navigate around during Surg.... Also less chance of perforations, less chance of complications during Surg because they have to lift it up and it can't be heavy, especially for laparoscopic procedures.... Mine is on Tuesday...... Nervous on one hand but calm on another. Questions answered. And due to complicated history dr is not going to go thru w op if things looked negative, etc.

I've only tried EAS AdvantEdge carb control pre made shakes. They're sold at WalMart and come in chocolate' date=' vanilla and strawberry. I have Pure Protein powder at home in vanilla but don't like it. It doesn't mix up well, but those are the only two brands I've tried. I need to try more. I haven't experimented with it enough yet either. I'm addicted to Campbell's 98% fat free broccoli cheese soup. I've been eating that for dinner for like five days in a row now. I'll get soups from restaurants though, that's a good idea.[/quote']

That soup is awesome. I also like the cheddar cheese one too and the cream of chicken. They are all the 98% fat free.

As far as Shakes go the Atkins are good but I really like the " oh yeah" shakes. Very high in protein. My dr sells them but I got it on amazon cheaper. They are sooo good.

Good luck to you.
