BMI of 39 and am 5'3" looking for similars...

My doc told me to only expect to get down to 150 and to only loose about 15 pounds per month. I was a bit disappointed with this. Anyone else out there that has had better luck than this??

And your Dr. said that was a realistic goal? Oh I so hope so. I would love to see 125 again...

He would be happy with 130 - 135 but I'm only 5 feet I would still be 'overweight' ... According to standards I should be between 95 and 125 to be healthy so I'm aiming at 115.

My surgeon said to expect to lose 60- 80%. I had surgery on Wednesday and my BMI is between 39 and 40.

I had surgery Wednesday also. How are you feeling?

The day of surgery 1/08/13 my bmi was 39.. I weight 234.. I'm 5ft 2in.. My weight 6 weeks later is 209.. My surgeon want me to get down to 130lbs. I haven't been that weight since I was 14 and I'm now 40. But I know I can do it cuz it gets easier as each day goes by! Good luck to everyone on this journey

I'm 5'1 my starting weight was 212. One month post op and I'm down 31 pounds. My goal weight is 125 and my doctor says I should be able to reach my goal weight.

I'm feeling pretty good...a little sore, but it's manageable with pain meds...I have 7 incisions because I also had my hernia repaired. I've been documenting my journey on YouTube. RNYKrista

I had a hernia too! It was right under my breast bone.
