So my nausea is from eating too fast. I dunno how much slower I can go lol also met with the dietician today for my post op follow up and I have lost a total of 30 lbs! That motivates me even more!

Wow!!! That's amazing! My mom said she lost 30 pounds the first month... I just hope the scale starts moving again some day.

I got my percocett back today! Thank goodness it is helping but I fell last night and ever since my inside stitch feels ripped....when am I ever going to be getting better for goodness sakes. Feeling discouraged....like one thing after another. I am only back to where I was before the ER fluids, I can't eat without almost vomiting. He had to prescribe me sublingual nausea meds because I started throwing up anything that went in......I can't walk now I have a kidney stone, and I have to wait to go see a renal specialist.....I am trying to stay positive, but I am really feeling defeated right now..........oh yeah and after dads heart attack, I found out today the stent only got him 15 % flow.....my mom was afraid to tell me cause she knew I would be upset, they were waiting to see if he would improve but go tomorrow to find out if he is going to need another open heart surgery. I just can't take this right now...... if you pray please lend me a few.....I am really feeling very sad. Sorry for the crybaby episode.

Kat

Kat, you sure have had more than your share, haven't you. My heart goes out to you and my thoughts are with you at this difficult time.

Patricia,

I gained when I went in for the ER and go fluids....I just now got it off. I know this will all work out, I am just so tired. They took me off food and want me to come see him tomorrow. I am back on liquids as tolerated, but I keep getting so nauseous and have thrown up some Water and meds. I only ate 1 oz SLOWLY and it came back up my through. I got stuck on the couch last night because everyone fell asleep while in was on the phone. I took me about 30 min to figure out what to do. Percocette is only lasting 4 hours.....I hope things are going better for you.

Cecilia, thank you....sorry I'm such a complainer right now

I'm sorry about talking so late on the phone which left you stranded on the couch....I'm sending positive thoughts your way for some relief. I called MD office ths am and they are giving a script for muscle relaxer if it doesn't work I will go in Monday and see Krahn before he goes on family leave. I made it perfectly clear to Veronica that i want to see Krahn not Chin. Again sorry for talking so late next time just tell me you have to hang up ok? :-)

Katy 77 I thank god haven't had and trouble with fluids and I've been on soft food for 3 days and everything is going good there no nausea or anything that would be the most horrible felling I know it just drains all your energy cause you can't keep anything down my dr only has me taking Iron of my Vitiamines till I guess I see him next wed but I know what you mean I'm just really tired and feel very weak I hope the y can give you something for nausea so you can keep food and liquids down so you can fell better my stomach is still very tender but the Loritab makes me so sleepy and very drogy so I'm just taking Tylenol it doesn't make me feel so bad and my arm is killing me they had to put a pick line in and where they took it out really hurts to even touch my arm

I hope everything goes well for your dad have they decided anything yet for him just tell your mom to try not to worry to much where she doesn't get sick it's so hard with everything going on and make sure she gets plenty of rest How's things going with work for your husband it's been so much going on he problem hasn't had time to look at anything. Just keep praying and remember we will see the light in the end of all this and it will be good and better health and we won't think about all our struggles when we get there

So I called my doc about the stomach pain I was having. Turns out it was my stomach acid. I took a zantac and it went away. Thank goodness cause it was super bad. I kept telling my doc it feels like my stomach is burning. He thought I was crazy lol

Hey everybody!

I wanted to write to tell you that I'm so excited I have gone for a solid 30 minute walk four days in a row now! But unfortunately, I also have to share that I threw up for the first time today. I've been sticking to strictly purees, but tonight I saw the shaved Turkey deli meat in the fridge, and I thought "one bite?" So I took half a slice and chewed it until it was mush but I don't think it even hit my stomach before coming back up again. Damn. That was quite unpleasant.

Sorry for the icky share, but I felt like if I only bragged about the exercise, I'd be lying. LOL!

I'm on the flip side now, about 15 hous post op. pain, pain, pain. I allowed to have morphine in my Iv every 2 hours, but I have to buzz and ask for it. Super tired, but not terribly easy to sleep because of pain and overall discomfort. Around 11pm, I had the nursing assistant help me take a tiny walk. I feel gas, but nothing is happening.

Remember to ask for pain meds before your planned walk (to make it more comfortable) and then be sure to have someone walk with you (to steady you if you get woozy). The pain will pass, although I remember when I was in the middle of it I thought it would last forever! Just repeat the mantra "this too shall pass, this too shall pass, this too shall pass." Best of luck to you and to others in recovery this week!

Good morning everyone! I'm so excited! The scales moved!!!!! (well, so to speak, as in the age of digital scales the only thing that changes is the LCD display, but I'll take it!)

I guess you could say I'm in the "honeymoon period" because I don't feel hungry hardly ever, and I can cheerfully take my kids through the drive-through at McDonalds and not feel the least bit tempted by the sights or smells. All my bruises are gone, and all but one of the lap incisions scabs have fallen off. I can move without pain and don't tire easily.

My only problem is getting all my nutrients in. If I focus on the Protein, I come up short on the Water. The next day I focus on the water, and miss the protein by half. I'm so glad I'm off work for another few weeks while I learn how to do this. I think I'll have to really develop a schedule that I can "memorize" at home, so when I go back to work I can take it with me and not come home from a 12-hour shift dehydrated and weak (and I could see this happening).

How are the rest of you doing? Can we have a check-in of everybody? Those doing well, and those needing support? I'd love to hear from all of you!

Cheers!

Cecilia

I ate maltomeal this morning with some vanilla Carmel Protein power added. Only took 7 bites to become full!

I'm 8 days postop- still have a weird pain in left side that zings me now and then. My start weight b4 surgery was 222- preop was 210, this morning was 201 (by my scale)

I've been focusing on the liquids and full liquids and I'm going to call my nut to ask about protein intake now- my papers say to add carnation instant Breakfast to stuff to add protein in but it isn't really focused yet on protein.

I've had yogurt, sf pudding, creamed Soups, maltomeal, broth, sf Jello, diluted 100% juice, v8, Water water water- I don't know what it feels like to be hungry, because I never am, but I'm learning the "full" feeling!

So far everything has been great except NOT sleeping at night because I'm wired up and I stopped taking pain meds! Getting some Benadryl today!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
