Fabulous February Post-Op's

I don't want to bring anyone down' date=' I'm just totally curious? Is anyone else really depressed? I can't shake this overwhelming feeling I've made a mistake. I'm feeling better, and I'm losing a bunch of weight so I don't get it. I'm just feeling very down like I want to cry nonstop. But I made this "choice" and I feel like I can't say anything to family or I'll get an "I told you so".

Anesthesia is notorious for making you feel blue plus hormones are a mess right now from the surgery and weight loss....I'm not really depressed, just blah, none of my usual spunk. Hopefully this gets better soon, I don't like me blah!!! And I am so done with this nausea!!! I think I'd rather have pain!!!

Hi Everyone!

I'm new here, had my surgery on the 13th at the mayo Clinic. They do a TON of work with you to get you ready before, during, and after. I had wonderful pain relief at the hospital with Toradol and Demerol. They weaned me off these on day 3 and I came home on Oxycodone and tylenol. As long as I remember to take them as scheduled, the pain is minimal.

I have to be on Clear liquids until next Wednesday, but they do want me to get some carbs in those liquids, so I'm drinking diluted juices, gatorade, that sort of thing. I was allowed to go home on "toots" because they said it's quite normal not to poo for almost a week. Thank God.

I'm not really hungry. I think now and then I feel pain and I confuse that with hunger. They want me to get 64 ounces of liquids in per day, no more than 8 ounces per hour, so that's a bit tricky, but I'm getting better at keeping track.

I'm also struggling a little with postop depression, but I think I know what's going on. I miss my "friend" the food. My kids are all eating, and I miss doing that with them. I remind myself that in 6 months I'll be eating along with them, and it makes me feel much better.

Hugs to you all!

Cecilia

Thanks for posting-- hope I have a similar experience later this month. I feel very prepared as my doc's office really did great. I think the prep is so important.

I'm feeling weak & I think that's what's causing my depression, I'm hoping my doctor says I can go on puree foods when I see her on Thursday! Because I'm not getting much energy from any of these liquids! :-(

My anesthesiologist put a patch behind my ear that prevented nausea. I also was sen home with anti nausea medicine ...maybe your surgeon can call something in. I hope you feel better soon:)

I had the patch through Thursday (it's good for 72 hours) amazingly the nausea started a few hours after patch removal! :). I have zofran but don't wanna take it all the time, makes me sleepy, so I try to hold out...because I'm stupid like that. 2 hours after zofran and a nap the world is good again :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
