Check with your doctor first to see if he does do one.

Remember it is a tool to make sure your not leaking Fluid into your abdomen. Not all doctors do them.

If he does then it just becomes something that you say ok I want a healthy life, a drain tube for a week, doable. To me this is a small thing to endure for the long term of my health and having a kick a*s body!

Ha. I am such a pansy. I am early in the process and this is the first time I have been nauseous & it is from just reading this thread. I have a long road ahead.

I did not have tubes, but I do remember that I turned over in recovery and Fluid leaked out on both sides , and they wraped me up in bandages.......I was so drugged up for three days it is all a blur, the ivs being changed and the blood clot shots were my worst thing.......the heparin shots every 4 hrs for three days in my stomach...... Bruised me pretty good.....

Ok, sounds interesting as I was in Hospital for 2 days and Fluid collected all the time. Would like to hear from anyone who had a tubeless operation.

Im so scared about the catheter

Ten days before prostate surgery I had a cystoscopic exam. After the procedure

i had urine retention and had to have a catheter for 10 days. A drain can't possibly be worst that that.

Mine was removed the day after surgery. I kinda wish it was in for longer because yesterday I pulled a hanging piece of scab off my incisions site and a bunch of Fluid poured out!! For about 10 mins a brownish liquid came out then it got more red and bloody! I applied pressure and it stopped. Now I'm worried I have Fluid still inside of me :-(

My younger sister didn't have a drain but older sister did and she had less problems with gas. She swears that the drain made the difference.

I agree toothdoc a JP drain is not worse than a cathater.

I had breast reduction and I had a tube on each breast. It didn't hurt just felt weird when they came out.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
