24 1 year and 5 months POST OP

Recommended Posts

Hey every one! I had my gastric bypass Aug 2011..I was 265 and I am now 161...my smallest weight post op was 145. Best decision I made in my life. But I want to warn the newbies that its not easy! At first it is because your not hungry or you dont eat much but as time passes you start to taste this and that and before you know it you are binging on everything you shouldn't have and dumping syndrome has become something you are willing to have just for one piece of that delicious cake!

Needless to say I am terrified of gaining my weight back but I have no self control so I need support and also motivation to exercise. I don't have much excess skin but I need to tone and tighten. If you have any questions just ask. Ive seen the good the bad and the ugly! ♡♥♡

Welcome to the group congrats on the weight lost. So in other words after 1 year I will regain again? Did you sorta hate food then began to love it & the weight came on. I don't want to be fat ever again.

Every one is different...i guess it depends on your self control. Yes I hated food at first and I completely avoided junk food...but family started to say I was getting too small and it madee eat more and eventually id taste a piece of donut here and there and now recently ive bern binging on junk. I feel helpless I habe np self control and I have gained ten lbs. Im trying to practice self control and get to my goal weight of 140. So you just stay away from old habits and stay in control. However, my doc said that research does suggest that rny patients do gain 10-20 lbs back eventually. I don't ever want to be big again either.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
