Already feeling discouraged. I started at 244. DOS (1/25/13) I was 237. After all weight gain from air and fluids I was 250 but I have been losing every day since. By my first 1 week post op I was 234 and yesterday I was 229. I was so excited to be in 220s. Getting in fluids and Protein has been difficult. Yesterday was the first day I finally got in all my required fluids and protein. Today the scale still said 229. So basically if I get in everything I'm supposed to I don't lose. I don't think it's a stall seeing how I'm only a week and two days post op. Yesterday I also had some creamy Soups so today I will ONLY do my required protein and fluids without any Soup but that stinks.

I've been moping around about it so hubby trying to give me pep talk about how my body is still trying to heal and I need to focus that and the weight will come off bla bla bla. I know he is right but I just want to lose weight so badly I mean that's why I had this major risky surgery to lose weight. Why is it surprising that I'm obsessed with it?

Anyone else feel like me a week out?

Ok four days later and still at 228.8. How can I be eating so little and not losing this soon out?

R u eating enough though? If ur not ur body will go into safe mode and reserve. I was real addicted to reading the scale at first, i learned to step back... Dont weigh as much, some people only weigh once a month. I stalled at 3 weeks out for a whole week, realized i wasnt eating enough.

1 - I saw another recent post by you about pounds lost. I am only down 25 from the day of surgery and, while that is amazing, I also don't think it is enough. I saw the doc yesterday and was told it is a completely normal amount. I just have to trust that he knows more than me!

2 - we had nut class yesterday and I asked about the calories. She said anything between 300 and 800 is normal but that we shouldn't really worry about it. She reiterated that all we need to be tracking right now is our 65 grams of protein and our 64-80 ounces of water/fluid. My highest day so far has been around 600 calories and it only has happened on days that I use 2c unsweetened almond/coconut milk in one Protein Shake. I can't help but count calories because that is just what I have done my whole life.

What are you allowed to eat these days? They moved my surgery date peeps from pre-selects (refried Beans, cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, sugar free pudding, and egg whites) to soft foods yesterday. We are allowed things like thinly sliced deli meat, meatballs, black bean burgers, avocado, bananas... Pretty much we are only supposed to avoid stuff that have to be cut with a fork and knife and foods that crunch.

I'm down 25 since surgery including 2 weeks post-op liquid diet beforehand. I feel it's not enough at all, but then again, I'm comparing my weight loss to VSG surgery my sister had...and she had already lost 40 in 3 weeks, but I think it's because she was MUCH heavier than me. To be honest, I'm also not exercising. I know I need to, but I work, intern, and go to grad school in nyc fulltime, so I have next to no time to exercise. I will be cleared for exercise and can start next week. I can't wait.

At this stage, I stayed on pureed for 1 week (didn't really puree anything, just had soft, soft foods, mostly eggs). Right now, I am on the soft food stage. It's basically anything soft, but no bread, Pasta, or raw fruits or veggies yet. I mostly eat a lot of eggs and cheese. I've tried chicken just twice since then as well as chili with lean beef. I've tolerated everything so far. The chicken I had last night must have gotten stuck and I was in pain for a good 10 minutes. I just WISH I could lose it faster. I know that's rediculous though. I did manage to go down almost 2 pant sizes, so I'm losing lots of inches. I went from a 18/20 to a loose 16.

I know I need to exercise to get this weight off though =/

Oh yeah, and I know I would have never have lost this 25 on my own this fast lol.

Not losin much last week in the last week, but I know I'm not getting my Protein in either. I have tried & tried again with food & just end up with a huge stomach ache....Not worth the pain so I got some nectar lemonade protein & trying that. So far so good, no chalk flavor yet! Wish me luck, I'm going for 60 Gms protein today!

I love the nectar protein powder! Try a sample pack of the caribbean cooler with unsweetened almond and coconut milk (I like the pure almond brand).

Good luck hitting 60g!

I'm having the EXACT same problem. Heating pad seems to help. I'm thinking muscle but I'm going to ask doctor tomorrow. I hope we feel better soon.

Feel better! Let me know what your doc says. I'm not sure why this is happening. I'm hoping it's a pulled muscle too.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
