My surgery was last Friday, and I am having no luck with Protein shakes. It's not that they wont stay down, I haven't had anything come back up yet (thank god), but I just have no interest in drinking anything that isn't clear. I've tried a few different kinds of shakes. I can tolerate the taste of Baricare chocolate, but it's like I just don't want it. It took me an hour and a half to drink 3 oz tonight. I had 4 oz this morning, so I got a total of about 45 grams in today which is my best so far. I'm supposed to get 60. Other than that, today I had 4 oz of applesauce and a lot of Water and propel. I know that isn't enough! How can I make these next two weeks of all-liquids more appetizing? I'm worrying my family to death, but the truth is, I'm just not hungry, nor do I have any interest at all in food. (Except the applesauce. I really love the applesauce.)
Also, one more random question: Why is applesauce okay during the post-op liquid phase, but other fruit smashed up at home isn't? I don't understand why I can't blend some fruit up with my Protein Shakes. That would for sure make them taste better!
Thanks for any advice!
