How do they determine what size band to use? Is one size better that another? I haven't had a chance to ask my doctor which one will be used on me.

My doc said he determined size once they were in surgery. Mentioned something about a sizer thing... I wound up with the Vanguard (VG; largest) band, which I found somewhat surprising.

I think it depends on how much fat is around the stomach. They can determine that once inside.

From what I remember, it's a combination of fat pads around the stomach, the the size of the actual stomach wall as well. It varies a lot person to person.

My surgeon uses 2 sizes 10cc and 12cc.

I have a 12cc...which right now feels like I have o band because I am almost 3 weeks post op and I can eat anything ...

On my VG band, he said he'd primed it with approximately 3 mLs already. Interesting. Anyone else's doc with a large band pre-fill it at surgery?
