I am alive' date=' awake and doing well. I have been virtually pain free, only issue that will resolve is abdominal cavity gas. Hope everyone is well, and Good luck surgery buds.[/quote']

Congrats :-) Glad to hear from you already. I thought other than getting out of the hospital bed on the left side (due to that left incision where a lot of the work was performed thru) the gas was the most uncomfortable. Because of that, when I arrived home I didn't have to take pain med :-)

Try to lose as much weight as possible pre-op. It makes for an easier surgery, as the Dr has room to work without fear of injuring your liver. Also my Dr ordered a pre-op dose of Emend 40mg. So I have absolutely no nausea. Drinking Clear Liquids slowly, you will be amazed at how small of a sip you have to take. Time to completely retrain your mind instead of an elephant you wake with the stomach of a cat. Ha Ha

I am praying for everyone tomorrow. I wish I was going to be with you but instead I'm lying in bed with the stinking flu. Now I just hope my kids do not get it.

I'm praying you all do well and have a quick recovery. :)

Sometimes pretty bad. I can handle pain, but sometimes is just like WOW. You can do it.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
