January Dates

Recommended Posts

Ok guys...since I feel so comfortable in this thread with you all...I just wanted to (continue) to vent. I need some good thoughts passed my way! Yesterday I had a pill cam endoscopy to view my small intestines. I had a colonscopy...and the biopsy came back negative for Crohn's' date=' but with the pill cam, they are still checking to see if I have Crohn's. My surgeon said he will not do the bypass on January 15th if it's Crohn's, but he feels confident that it's not. I'm still scared though. I get my results Monday or some time mid-week the latest. Worst case if it was Crohn's, I'd have to resubmit to insurance everything and do the sleeve (which my insurance doesn't cover, but we could try).

So not only is it HARD doing the liquid diet, but it's also HARDER knowing it could all be for nothing if they do find Crohn's. I will keep all updated.

So surgery is a go for 1/15, but if it's Crohn's...it's off. PLEASE keep me in your prayers. I don't think it's that...but there's a small chance it could be.

Anyway, I'm day 5 on liquid diet and just trying to hang in there. I'll let you guys know of the results as soon as I know. Fingers crossed, please.

:(:unsure::wacko: :wacko:[/quote']

Ur in our prayers everything will b fine

Congrats to you! Walking every 2 hours seems like a lot, but I bet he has a reason. I don't recall my husband having to walk that often when he had his surgery, but like him I'm supposed to give myself levonox injections 2x a day for 7days after leaving the hospital to help prevent the blood clots. The walking also helps get rid of the gas in your tummy which I understnad is quite painful. Best of luck and quick healing to you!

yes thats also what the doctor said but I have soo much gas all the time! It seems like if I drink anything I get bloated and gassy! I am trying the gas x strips right now but no change! And another thing, I can feel my tommy rolling or making noise after I drink my oz cup of Water. I'M really starting to wonder how long being and feeling like this is gonna take! :-(

Depending on how high your BMI is, my surgeon provides Luvenox shots that you give yourself for two weeks after surgey. It's usually for patients with a 50 BMI and higher. You can always walk! Walking will help or ask your surgeon what he thinks so you feel a bit more at ease!

I'm feeling nervous and excited and ready and then nervous again. Ooooohhhhh. I hate needles. Prayers please

All natural feelings. Especially adding that nervous in there 2 times ;-) I was VERY nervous, excited, so ready. Don't be surprised if you are all of those when you get released from the hospital. I was nervous cuz even though I knew what to eat I was nervous about getting everything consumed that I needed too. I had everything ready for me when I arrived home, however I was still nervous. But then leaving the hospital felt so good and it was good to be home.

Good luck all surgeries for the 7th. Congrats you made it and prayers are with you for an uneventful recovery.

You're welcome. I thought I would bring up coming home cuz yes that seems to be a consensus for those of us after surgery. But when going into surgery, I never had the thought. When you're in the hospital being taken care of and then the thought of being on your own is a little overwhelming. But once I got home, the anxiety of it went away. I wanted to let you all know that feeling is normal as well.

But omg walk every two hurs day and night! I'M going to ask my surgeon about those shots because loosing sleep for such a long period of time is ridiculous! is there anything else I can do for all the gas in my stomach other than the gas x strips?

I start my full liquid diet tomorrow. I hope I can do this, I've been doing two shakes a day and then having dinner. By the time I get home from work my head is killing me, I hope I can do total liquid diet until the 21st! Oy vey! Can I have tomatoe Soup? Did anyone have an endoscopy or colonoscopy before surgery? I have to go in on the 16th until the 18th for these and then have surgery on the 21st.

Before I had surgery, I had to do a liquid diet. I did the sugar-free carnation instant breakfasts .....1 for Breakfast 1 mid morning for a snack 1 for lunch then 1 more got a mid-afternoon snack then a salad for dinner.....lots of Protein in the salad. I had to loose 5 pounds before surgery but wound up loosing 10 in two weeks prior to surgery. This diet was given to us in our packet before surgery. Maybe you can try this so you can avoid your head hurting.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
