It is a lot of info.

Got a ? for everybody. The insertion point by my belly button is still quite sore. Is this a consensus here. I'm a week post op.

Gen :-)

Oh yes and I am going into my third week. It is better but to turn over at night is like a sharp jab going through me.

That does make sense! I was wondering cause it seems like I can eat more and more with no ill effects and it was worrying me! Also' date=' thank you for the reminder about not drinking 30 mins before and 30 mins after a meal. It's not really a biggie now so much I guess cause all we are able to do is drink really but in the next stages and beyond, that is definitely gonna be key! I go to my doc and nut tomorrow, so I am gonna mention this and I'll let you know what they say too. Thanks!! <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />[/quote']

Oh thanks, I'm eager to hear what your doc says. I'm certainly in the same boat. It is rather worrisome but hearing that others are experiencing the same thing is at least reassuring that it may be ok.

Yeah.. I am home. Made I back home yesterday afternoon. Pain has been very manageable. I'm only asking 1/4 of what was prescribed. Ive been able to watch up and own my street, but after anything that I do I'm exhausted. Ok, I must admit that I thought it was a little weird when everyone post op was talking about needing to pass gas... I so get it now! I feel like I'd be home free with one supersonic fart! :0)

I'm handling Water great and constantly sip, sip, sipping. The shakes are so thick and hard to get down. Yesterday I only was able to get down about 1/2 of one shake.

I have developed a cough and not sure if I can have a cough drop. Anyone leave the hospital with a cough?

Hope everyone pat op is healing nicely.

Simplysouthern I'm especially praying for you. Your journey sounds intense and painful. Hopefully you are on the mend.

Congrats Snow on coming home and doing well thus far. A sugar free cough drop might be ok, but honestly I have no idea. So I might call and ask your Dr or ever a knowledgable Pharmacist might know since its Sunday. Could try calling the hospital and ask there. Just a couple of ideas. Sorry I'm not more helpful

Just so every on knows I do mix my own shakes w Water . They are thin, almost like I'm drinking water. That is how I'm able to get the Protein and water in. I just sip sip the Protein Drink away. I use Body Logix Protein mix, chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla. 3 carbs, 24 protein, 1 fat and 115 calories. I think the taste is a little better than many I've tried. However paired w milk it does taste better. But my body doesn't care for milk right now and I have issues w soy milk, never tried lactaid, and love coconut milk. So I need to talk to Dr about using coconut milk. I do prefer the chocolate over the other 2 flavors when drinking w only water.

Yes, I am too! Lol. I do honestly think that it's the gas going away and the swelling going down. I guess we really need to learn to sip sip sip, but sometimes I get soo thirsty I forget! Guess I shoulda really worked harder or some of that behavioral modification!! :(

Remember to use your incentive spirometer because you don't want pneumonia. You have to get that junk out of your lungs.

What is everyone using for their Calcium? My pills are big and not chewable. Even cut in half they are the size of fat raisin. Im afraid to try them.

Ask your Dr if u can use tums. I do. Kills two birds with one stone. Gas relief plus Calcium supplement

Try placing a pillow and press gently when you cough. It will help from keeping your stomach from jiggling.

For those of you having trouble with milk, this is what I do. Since my powder is already milk based, I have a chewable lactaid with each shake. You can get a box of 32 at walgreens for less than $10 and believe me it's worth it and more! Make sure it's the chewable and not the pills or else that will be another thing you have to crush. Hope this helps!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
