Lol Jessica, that's normal. You're swollen, plus they pumped your belly full of gas during the surgery.

My surgery was Monday :) I came home yesterday :) I am feeling good. I am trying to get the balance of Water and Protein in daily but I am feeling great for the most. So glad I made the choice to do this!!

I'm still in the hospital! Yesterday I was having horrible gas pains (that's what I was told it was) between my shoulders, under my breast bone and behind ribs. I've walked marathons!! So I haven't used any pain meds since 4 am. I've been drinking my Water, so I'm ready to get going.

Once again, dr Richard Peterson and his UT Health has my commendations. Ty all!

Thanks for all the postings. It helps hearing how it is going for each of you and what to expect. Calms the nerves on this end while waiting.

Glad you're home and everything of ok..

What kind of Protein drinks to you have...the only ones I have seen only have like ten mg of Protein I will be drinking them all day..do you have out recommend any

I drink chocolate Premier Protein. It has 30 grams of protein per drink and only one gram of sugar. I really like the way it tastes. They are sold at Sam's and costco.

New to this forum! I had surgery December 4th at 6AM in Wilmington, NC. I am now at home and doing pretty well! I am moving around fine and have hardly needed pain medicine. I just have an awful pain in my shoulders that I can't kick.

Congrats! That pain in your shoulders is gas. The best way to get it to move I'd yo walk. Glad you are doing so well!

Thanks! I've been up walking all day basically, and it's getting better, but now I'm crampy from moving so much. Oh well ya win some ya lose some! How are you?! I see you had surgery the same day!

Well, arrived home today after RNY surgery on the 4th. Definitely wasn't a walk in the park. Just got home today.

More later!

I also had surgery on 4th and it was tough. No one ever talks about how you feel days after surgery. I have had many surgeries but nothing like this.

Mine wasn't that tough. I feel bad for those of you having a rough time with this. I know everyone heals different but jeesh. =(

I'm doing ok. Most of my pain is where they had to remove my port from my lapband. I have liquid hydrocodone and it tastes awful but it helps with the pain. It also makes me very sleepy.

I have the liquid hydrocodone as well and it is DISGUSTING. I don't get very sleepy from it, thankfully, as I have a 3.5 year old who doesn't believe in nap time for mommy.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
