November 2012 Members Post Op

I had multiple allergic reactions after surgery. I ended up allergic to the glue they used to seal my incisions and then I broke out all over my torso which I ended up in the ER with. Turns out I was also allergic to the iodine they coat your body with prior to surgery, kind of a delayed reaction. Took quite awhile to work out of my system....it was very frustrating.

I really need some ideas for food. I'm having a hard time finding things I can eat. I was hoping there were some suggestions. I try different soft foods but find myself throwing up. I'm just scared

I am doing really well. Go back for a followup again tomorrow. Vacation was tough because I was trying to pick and choose from "real people holiday food"....scares me to think how much of it I used to eat! So glad my surgery had a huge impact on my desire for sweets and baked goods. I didn't really have time to work out (except doing 2 flights of stairs at least 5 times a day...yikes!) I am now down 40 lbs since my heaviest in Oct 2012 and down 31 lbs since surgery 11/26. Hope everyone is doing well now!

Anyone heard anything from Eva? Last I heard she may have been going back into revision. I was worried about her with the nightmare she has been through.

I haven't ate salads yet. I didn't know when we could. I know I am on regular foods but just assumed salads was like when we were 6 months out. I am going to have to try and see

Did anyone's doctor tell them not to color or dye their hair? Before I had the surgery I expressed my fear of losing hair....he said not to color my hair. My hair is in dire need of some touchup!

Lol nope. I was freaking out about Hair loss too, so I got half my hair bleached then had a rainbow of colour put through. Cos I thought if I'm gonna lose hair it might as well come out in a rainbow...

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
