I need to complain.. Why the hell do they move us to puréed foods when you can't eat them and drink enough shakes to get in 60-85 grams of Protein a day. It's impossible when you have to wait 30 minutes after and before drinking. It's impossible. I guess I'll be on shakes for another month. I've tried to eat but you get to full and not enough protein. I'm just frustrated. :-(

Amen I think I'm gonna stay on liquids another 2 week's and alternate puree and liquids till I'm completely healed.

It will come off. Our bodies are just well' date=' pissed. We have really abused them and now we are basically starving. I know they say patience is a virtue but its very difficult. :-).[/quote']

Worm that is an excellent way to put it! Relax, up your Protein and Water and walk a bit. Nothing major. Enough to enjoy it! The weight loss will start again. Been plateau there myself for a bit before losing again.

I've heard that the first 3 months the weight will hang on, but after that it will release itself rather quickly. Yay! Looking forward to that! :)

I hope the weight does drop off!!

I think I am going to do shakes and yogurt during the day esp at work and then try the puréed foods at night. Last thing I need is to be miserable at work.

I'm 5 days post op... still pretty sore... but moving pretty well. I think my biggest problem is I overdo it when I'm up and pay for it later... anyway, I have a couple of concerns... I still haven't taken a poo... sorry if this is TMI.... and I've barely passed gas the last few days. I'm so uncomfortably bloated I can barely stand it... and to top it off... the scale hasn't budged a bit... actually I've gone up 3 lbs... I'm starting to freak out and I feel like it didn't work. I know I need to be patient and let my body heal but I'm frustrated and scared that I've gone through all of this for nothing.......

Definitely u need to be pooing and passing gas. I put a hot compress on my belly quite a bit. Helps relieve soreness and I pass gas. Gas x has helped me to the chewables.< /p>

I had the same issue. I used a suppository. It worked. You will feel so much better once you go. Some dr recommend Miralax as well.

this morning I am frustrated. I woke to a sour tummy, my past remedy would be to eat a slice of bread to soak up the acids and usually make myself feel better. Now I need to try and find something different to help with this. Any suggestions? Zofran hasn't taken much of the edge off.

I have the same issue. I've been drinking lemon tea. Seems to help.

I am 8 days out of surgery. Here is what my conundrum is. So I can eat, but drinking seems to be a problem. Some of my favorite foods are eggbeaters with shredded cheese and low fat sour cream it is about 10g of protien I am able to eat and really mushy and tasty. Also mashed potatos with a dollop of cream of chicken and and shredded cheese and sour cream. Unfortunately I think i am only getting about 30g of protien and 30oz of Water. The feeling of fullness is so different from liquid to mush. I don't have any pain unless I drink anything cold...my pouch is not happy with cold. Soup is better. My bowels are moving woo-hoo! The period has finally ended. Anyone else having these issues and found a way to get more fluids. Sometimes I wish I could just go in for a weekly IV since I am worried about getting dehydrated.

Are you taking something like Pepcid daily? I'm on that for next 6 months to reduce stomach acids which could be source of your woes.

I pooped!!! Lol. I was starting to wonder when that was going to happen. Especially while on Clear Liquids. What a pleasant surprise. I feel so much better now. I haven't been walking as much but now that I'm a little "lighter" I feel like I can move all day. It's the little things...

Oh, yeah and 8lbs down since surg Thursday, 11/29.

I am with you ladies I had a mine on 11/12 which had to be converted to open and I just can not do any food without getting sick. I have tried everything. The only relief I got last night was because I did Protein Shakes and Water only so I didnt get sick last night but every other night I have gotten sick. Also I can only eat about one or two bites of anything before getting that stuffed sick feeling. I will be going in to have my stitches removed this Sunday and going to mention this who knows I suppose I could have a stricture.

Ugh! I pulled something. I went for my two week check up today and must have gotten in or out of my jeep wrong. Right below my right boob. (I know TMI) Oh wow does it hurt. I was fine!! Use this as a warning Just take it easy!! Ugh!! Can't even take pain meds. They give me a rash. Here's hoping children's Tylenol works!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
