Surgery Today... You Think This Day Will Never Come But It Did.

Recommended Posts

Just piddling around here at home waiting for time to go to the hospital. Check in at 10:30 surgery at 12:30.

Woke up at four and couldn't go back to sleep so, I will be ready for a little nap when I get in to that operation room.

You really think this day will never come, but it has.

A little anxious, but I am sure that is normal.

I hope to be able to update you all later today or early tomorrow.

Thank you for all you support

Hugs and Prayers to those who have had and will have surgery this week.. Sending good wishes for those waiting for approval.

Talk to you soon

Best of luck! You will do awesome and don't worry you will catch up on all that lost sleep today, I swear I mostly either was sleeping or walking for the first two days! Take the pain meds, walk ASAP and often, and take care of yourself, you deserve this. Welcome to the losing side- looking forward to following your weightloss journey!

Well I am back home. The surgeon didn't feel comfortable doing the surgery today because my blood sugar was high. I know he is being cautious and a good doctor but I sure am disappointed. It is rescheduled for Dec.5 and I am supposed to somehow get my blood sugars down. So another round of reg diet then two weeks pre op diet and a lot more insulin. Trying to tell myself things happen for a reason and God is in control.

I am so sorry!! What a stressful experience and so dissapointing for you. I guess the best thing is that your doctor is protecting your health and the healthier you are going into the surgery the better the surgery will turn out. Maybe that is why you have been so anxious? Sooooo... now to not get too discouraged and to keep yourself motivated! We are here for you and will help in anyway we can. I can not imagine your frustration but I know you can do this. I hope your doctor gave you a clear plan to follow. Well on a good side you can lose a few more pounds before surgery (right?) which will mean you will lose even more after surgery so YAY! What can we do to help? Keep being positive and this next month with go quickly (that is what they say anyway) especially with the holidays coming and being so busy getting ready for that. :)

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
