Effects of optifast?

I have been wondering what the effects of Optifast would be. I know I will find out when I talk to the dr. I want to kinda of plan those 2 weeks out, since I will be at work. With a bunch of nosey @$$ people.. :))

I have only told 2 people in my small office that I am going thru this.

But my main concern is there any negative effects from optifast?

Diarhhea (sp), gas?, sick stomach? :heh:

My consult isn't till next month and I know I would be able to get some great answers from this wonderful board.

TIA,

Rosanna

Hi Rosanna, I like your name. I did Optifast for three weeks prior to being banded. I did not get any tummy upsets etc. The only thing I noticed was that a lot of my hair fell out. Strange but true. Luckily I have very thick hair and lots of it. Everyone is different so it may not happen to you.

Good luck with it. Don't worry about sticky beaks at work, you are doing this for you.

Good on ya.

Susannah

I am in week 2 of 3 and right now I am not seeing any ill effects. Weight loss is pretty good. My mood, sleeping and general feeling have improved after the 2-3 day withdrawl from carbs.

Some people notice a slight acetone smell to thier brethe due to being in ketosis, but that is pretty minor.

As for diarrea, dont worry about that. Even with the veggies that I eat and the 4tbs of benefober per day, there is not too much in the way fo bowel movements.

I have been able to hide it from the people in my office for the last weeks by mixing it in my office in a shake bottle & then transfering it to a big coffee mug with a lid.

:laugh That made me laugh.. Woo Hoo..

Thanks for the input Susannah & Gaffer..

I was worried that I would have some 'ill effects' and working in in office wouldn't be pretty. Esp. in our office.

LBT are the best group of people.

Thanks again,

Rosanna
