Excited and Scared

Recommended Posts

I have been reading many posts on this forum for the past week and have now decided to introduce myself. I am 27yrs old and will be banded on 2/22/07. I am very excited, nervous and scared. I have struggled with my weight for the last 5 or 6 yrs. I have come to the conclusion that this is the best TOOL to Help me lose the weight. I have a very supportive husband. I have chose to keep this a secret from most people that know me. I have not even told my parents yet. I plan on telling them soon, but I know that they will not think this is the right thing and that I haven't tried hard enough on my own.

I really need the support and encouragement that I see shown on this forum.

No one knows unless they walk in OUR shoes! I am in the process. I went to my original seminar 11-05. Due to insurance problems I have not joined the "Band" yet. I am hoping soon. This is the greatest website. I have been lurking here and posting for quite sometime. Everyone is so willing to share experiences and advice. And to see how everyone has done on the tickers its great. Look around there are meal and recipe suggestions too, which I find really neat.Good Luck!

I'm 29 and getting my band on 2-21-07 & I'm nervous too!! Whenever I start feeling scared I just think about how many new things I'll be able to do soon. I think about how many pounds I will have lost by next christmas, spring, and so on...that gets me excited again!! To me nothing is more scary than living the rest of my life this big and unhealthy, so I say bring it on!! Good luck with your surgery and congratulations on doing something positive for yourself!!

I had a few.. "oh my goodness what I am doing?" moments. Even in the holding area waiting for surgery! I just kept thinking of all the positive things this band can help me with and it kept me going. So far, I am very happy to have it.

I am 32 and have only told my husband, sister and two best friends. (Work people found out only 'cause they overheard a few of my phone calls, so I came clean - no biggie though. I just started the job and hardly know any of them.) My family has always put such an emphasis on my weight, that I decided not to tell them until I was ready. I wanted to make sure this was a decision I made on my own. That and it's nice not to have to answer the "how much have you lost so far" and "can you eat that" questions.... Good Luck!

I totally understand not telling the folks if they are the obsessed-with-weight type. I told one of my best friends and then she had the audacity to tell me it was the easy way out! It's really something that skinny people don't understand, but I'm sure they'll be thrilled when they see it is working.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
