1 Mth In 50 Lbs Down

Recommended Posts

Had my surgery on 9/5/12, it has been a long hard month. Filled with many trips to the ER, lots of Dr. appointments, pain and highs & lows. But as of 10/5/12 I am down 50lbs. Still have a long way to go and hoping it starts getting smoother.

That is great! I'm not for certain what has all happened to you but I hope it gets better from here for you.

Hello and Congrats MommyHand, that's awesome news....I just got converted from Lapband to Gastric on Oct. 10th, and its going well so far. So if its not to personal, can you tell us what sort of problems did you have that caused you to go in and out of the hospital?

Surgery date October 10, 2012

Congrats! What a great beginning... it does get better. I think the first couple of months are the hardest in terms of adjusting and complications. After that you get to enjoy the ride, including all the up and downs and stalls.

So I ended up in the hospital for several weeks. Couldn't keep anything down for weeks & weeks. I was eventually put on TPN/IV nutrition. Now I am not loosing weight. I have no feeling in my legs. Was told it was from severe malnutrition.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
