Go in for my op!!! Sitting in the waiting room , waiting to be called in for prep. Im strangly calm - hope thats a good thing-

I came alone - a decision that i am very happy with- i just couldn't handle the stress of my husband. He would be sitting next to me on this phone all the time. But instead his having to deal with the kids in the morning ( a first) and im here reading a book in silence. Pity i cant have a coffee to go with it! I am just ready. Not too nervous not too scared, just ready.

Best wishes for a safe surgery and swift recovery. remember get up and walk as soon as you can and do it often, it is the key to less gas pain and faster recovery. Good luck, will be thinking about you.

Good luck :) I went to the hospital alone as well, it would have been nice to have some support but the way it worked out it was not a problem for me.

Glad everything went well. They probably want you to take it easy because you had your gallbladder out too. Soon as they allow you the walking really helps. It relieves the gas and stops you from getting stiff. Praying for a speedy recovery.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
