Had RNY on July 16, 2013 and celebrated the 36th anniversary of my 21st birthday on July 27.

Loving life, looking forward to the future, health is getting better, I've made the right decision in having the surgery.

Hi everyone

I'm 50 ( as of 5 days ago) and had rny on 7/23/13. I'm 54 pounds down since the start of my journey. I'm feeling good overall although ankle and knee pain has not been good and keeps me from walking a lot. You ate right Darcylyn this would be very hard to go through alone.

I am 56. Had mine in May @55' turned 56 in August. Have lost 80 lbs so far. And am loving life. As far as weight loss is concerned. After you have surgery, please make sure that you keep up with you supplements. I know 3 people that have had heart attacks and one of them actually died because they were so anemic and very little Iron Keep on your doctor. Would I do it again? In a minute.

Hello I'm 54. Had my surgery 3/1/2010. I'm 4 years out. Loving life, traveling around the US in our beautiful RV with my awesome husband. Loving my children (3 daughter, all living in their OWN homes, with their own families). Life is GREAT (today anyway)..lol

btw..I reside in Northern Minnesota, and my Bday is Oct. 11th.

I have one hubby (lol) and 3 daughters, 2 of them had RNY surgery, it went like this:

#1 daughter-surgery, RNY, Jan. 2010

#3 daughter-surgery, RNY, Feb. 2010

Mom- Surgery, RNY, Mar. 2010

Amazing! so we're going threw all of this together. AND oh man, are there three different ways of doing things...lolol...but where we come together is 'recipes'..we love to compare different ways to cook, bake, broil & boil things.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
