Let me rephrase, I know what I have read from the surgeon, but I would like to hear it from someone who has gone through it.

Be prepared for the gas pain. I bought infant gas drops. They were a miracle

Gas pain was horrible. Walking helps a lot. I also took the drops before it started. That was my only pain. No internal pains. Also, stay hydrated. I ended up in the e.r. for dehydration

I guess the pain varies person to person, but me personally i wasn't in pain after surgery. Well let me rephrase that the only pain i was having was the gas pain in my upper chest but its more of a really bad discomfort than a pain. I've read on here that some people are in extreme pain after surgery, but all i can go by is what i felt. The main thing after surgery is walk walk walk it helps with the gas. Good luck with you surgery on Tuesday and enjoy your new life its well worth it.

Sounds like labor (childbirth) walk walk. I can handle that:) I hate throwing up. Is it avoidable?

I never had any pain and never took any meds for pain. I was sore but with walking it went away quickly. Also, I've never had any vomiting. Felt nauseous many times but that's it. You'll do great!

When did it start taking the drops? Before the actual surgery? I need to try that! My sister is having her surgery Wednesday. Thanks for the tip!

Please take something for gas immediately because it is REDICULOUSLY painful. I had 2 surgeries in one and all I can think of is the gas pain !

I had a very hard time using my stomach muscles to sit up from my bed and really anything abdomen related like coughing hurt. Walking made the pain less noticeable, though for about 2 weeks I was holding the left side of my stomach while standing/walking because it hurt not to (mind you I later found out I had an infection on my left side so that could have been the culprit)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
