I quit smoking for a while now but then on the fourth of July I was drinking and then got offered a cigarette and smoked two. Now I'm worried that I won't be six months with out smoking. I have to get a letter signed by my PCP that I'm six months with no smoking. Does anyone know if they test your blood or urine somehow, or do they just go by your word and sign the paper. I'm supposed to go to see my PCP in October, so that will be three months since I smoked, so if they do check do you think I'd still pass? Any response is much appreciated! Thank you.

there is no test that will be done to see if you have been smoking. They go off your word. Obviously you have been doing great thus far, just be carefull to not have any more. =)

Stop stressing though, if you hang out with smokers you get 10 x more toxins just breathing off the other end than you got out of those 2. Stay strong though!!!

Hope this helps =)

You should be fine! My Dr. Does a blood test to check for nicotene only 6 weeks before surgery :)

Where I am having my gastric bypass surgery done they actually test your blood for the nicotine. It all depends on your surgeon and everything. They test everyone on the day of surgery to make sure that you have no nicotine in your system.

I didn't get tested. I'm an honest patent. I had quit long ago before surgery. The decision was made when I saw my son with autism banging his head it was time to quit & take care of my kids.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
