Just Found This Forum Today....

Hi everyone! My name is Kelly and I came across this forum just today and I've been on it reading all the posts for hours. I actually feel like I know some of you already! Everyone seems so supportive and helpful and funny and it seems like a great little family and I hope to go through all of this with you. I'm 30 years old and a mom to Carter (5) and Casey (4) and I've been married to my husband Dan for 6 years but we've been together since I was 15. I've always yo-yo dieted but it's been down 20, up 30 and I've reached my all time high. I weigh more than I did when I was pregnant with my boys and let me tell you, I was NOT a cute little pregnant chick. I am addicted to food, I've tried every diet and pill that's out there, and I've decided this is what I need to do. A friend of mine had gastric bypass 5 years ago and is so happy and looks amazing. I want that to be me. I have a beautiful, healthy family, a great home, great relationships, solid career. All that's missing is love for myself. I deserve to be happy. I had my seminar a few weeks ago and have my first appointment on August 3rd. I can't wait. It's nice to "meet" all of you and can't wait to share our journeys!

Hi Kelly!!!! I'm starting my journey too! I just met with my primary care doctor last month to document my current weight and track my food intake. I have a consultation with my surgeon on 25 July. Can't wait to get this weight off! I've battled with weight my whole life. My heaviest was 300 pounds and at 5'2", I was as wide as I am tall! I lost 100 pounds on my own and then got stuck at 200 pounds! I went to my weight loss center and found out that my BMI was too low!!! That was a year ago. Now at 45 almost 46, my hormones are all out of whack and I have gained 40 back which puts my BMI at just above what it needs to be for surgery. Now, for the first time in my life I step on the scale and hope I DON'T lose any weight!!! It's quite liberating to not be so focused on diet and exercise right now! Looking forward to talking more soon! Christi

Welcome ! I am right with you with your weight as I'm sure a lot are. I was 250 when I went in the hospital for my second and now I am 255. My ankles and knees are giving me problems and I am finding it really hard to walk down the stairs without being in pain. I am so ready for my surgery!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
