1 Week Post Op. Feel Like I Made A Big Mistake

Hi everyone, I just joined this place. I got my GB surgery done 21/5 so its been a week yesterday. I live in Oman and there weren't many options to do this surgery elsewhere.

After reading about GBS recovery and food stages and Proteins, I am stunned. My doc asked me to drink no Protein supplements, no Calcium citrate! I am on a liquid diet till now that consists of Water, tea, normal juices, broths and Soup. I can drink anything I want without large quantities of sugar.

I asked him and the NUT about protein intake, supps etc.. They said no extra supplements. And as for the puréed stage, eat what others are eating at home and just purée it. Nothing about protein first, nothing about no sugar. I am clueless on how to proceed. :(

  • Well I am Hispanic so what I did is make a pot of beans. I didn't do canned. So I would add more of the liquid to make them less thick.

I would say get weight loss surgery for dummies as well, I've heard that is really good. I would totally focus on getting your water in and some protein, That muscle milk should be fine. What I think is more odd is that he isn't telling you to take your vitamins. If I were you I would start taking multivitamins, calcium citrate, iron and B-12. Just because he didn't tell you to take it doesn't mean it'll hurt! just make sure it's chewable or liquid. also, if you eat and feel like you are going to throw up I notice that B-1 really helped me. I am not a doctor, I can only tell you what I would do.

He has prescribed vitamins. He has prescribed me with Minadex. Its like a childrens syrup. He asked me to yake calpol for the pain at home. Its for children!! But he hasnt told me to get calcium citrate specifically.

There was no mention of how much time to take to eat or drink nor did they tell me not to eat with meals. All this I know is by reading online.
