Eating Right?

Recommended Posts

I'm not sure I'm eating correctly. Bkfst. Scrambled egg.

Lunch: cottage cheese with tuna. I gave up the Protein Shakes cause I think I'm getting enough. Comments?

Dinner: grilled chicken and salad

Snack: yogurt

How much daily Protein did your doctor recommend? My doctor said 100g of protein a day (or as close as possible) for life. I've averaged 95g a day since Jan 1. tuna, chicken, yogurt and cottage cheese are all excellent sources of protein but there's really no way to judge your protein intake without quantities. I drink a Pure Protein 32g shake every day for Breakfast. With that big protein first thing in the morning, it's pretty easy to come close to the 100g of protein with other meals the rest of the day. There are days when I'm in the low 80's and a few days when I exceed 100g. I sometimes eat a 20g Protein Bar to supplement my protein if I'm running low on a particular day. Looking forward to reading the thoughts of others and what their doctors recommend!!

In the beginning it was a real challenge and about the only way I could do it was with two shakes a day. But as time went on I discovered more and more high Protein foods and along with the morning Protein Shake, it's pretty easy now. There are still days where I fall short and have to supplement with the Protein Bars but that's OK - I love the protein bars!

I was told 64 grams. I also have a pure Protein Shake everyday. That's half of my Protein right there. Sometimes for a snack I will have a Atkins bar (10/15 grams of protein). So my other meals might consist of chicken, eggs, tuna, chili, beef Jerky, etc.

I'm on it Vamp. May take me a couple of days. We have a freezer in our garage that was loaded to the brim with food. Recently had some work done on our house and one of the worker dudes unplugged the freezer to plug in a tool. We were out of town for a few days and didn't discover what had happened until almost a week later. We lost all of it - had to be close to $1000 worth. So...Costco and grocery store trips planned for tomorrow to start building things up again. I'll be able to be more specific after we stock up. Have a great Memorial Day!!

funny how all bariatric groups are different. I know first out of surgery I'm suppose to try to get up to 60 oz of Protein a day but, they said I won't be able to for a while.

kmiller...have you tried logging your food intake so you know for sure how much Protein you're taking in? SparkPeople is a great place to do that online.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
