Hello all, I have been reading post, but decided to join in. I am a 43 year old mom who had always been "big". My mom started me on a diet at the age of 10....and I was a ww member since I was 12. I have been a yo-yo for all my life, i'd lose 50lbs...gain 75. My first husband used to make me weigh in front of him everyday and post the weight on the board in our bathroom..... he would get very upset when I didnt lose! I got pregnant with my daughter and all of that changes....but with her i gained 75 lbs...15 yrs ago..but I have been divorced from him for 9 years! My current hubby is a little chubby, he's a good 100lb less than me though. My sister had bypass surgery in Feb 2011 and has lost about 145lbs. (she too has always been a big girl). So I decided to have the surgery too! I am currently planning surgery on Aug. 27,2012 if all goes well, it may be a few weeks early, not sure....but no later. I am done with always being tired, never being able to just go out and do things like others, sitting on the park bench while my family rides rollercoasters at Carowinds....missing out on movies or sporting events because I cant fit in the seats...and always having to use the handicap bathroom cause I dont have enough room in the regular stall! I am ready, to let go of this fat that has always held me back, to get healthy and trim and help my hubby and 15 year old daughter do the same. I wanna run in to Walmart and get a shirt and pair of pants, or a swimsuit....instead of being limited to the stores for plus sizes that cost so much you cant afford to get an entire outfit! I wanna buy panties and bras that match and are cute!
So, I am on the journey to do just that. I am on my first month of weight loss (I've lost 10.5 lbs in a month, not much but I'm heading in the right direction!) and have 2 more to go.... got a psych eval tomorrow then EGD soon. This time I am ready, willing to go the distance to see this through and have a chance to see what it's like to love the gym, walking around the entire neighborhood without needing to stop several times to catch my breath, riding the rides at Carowinds and doing things normal people can do. Thank you to all of those who regularly post on this site, you are all an inspiration and I read every word and keep the advice for my own journey.
