I have been toying with the idea of surgery for years. Last year a friend had a sleeve with great results. I still struggled with how this would change my life, my addictive relationship with food....... How could I do this and be happy? How could I not? After years of weight loss and regain. In April of this year my Dad had some health problems and ended up in a coma. As I stood over him thinking I was saying good bye I was filled with anger at him for not taking better care of himself, then it hit me that the extra 160 pounds I was carrying was probably worse on my health than his smoking was on his. At that point I became committed to have the sleeve and do all I could to become healthier!
On August the 20th I had my surgery the largest blessing of that day though was my Dad went with me. Fully recovered and smoke free! I am down 56 pounds total and walked 3 miles this afternoon my self esteem is soaring. Life is much deferent adjusting to a new way of eating and drinking has actually been fun. New foods, tracking everything I eat/drink. I am in love with with the new me. I still have a long way to go but am looking forward to the journey!
