What foods/drinks do you crave that surprised you after surgery?

I am totally surprised at what I'm craving or not craving. I expected to crave chips and junk food, you know, all the crap I craved before surgery. I am not craving those things at all. This of course doesn't mean that I might not pick a chip out of a bowl and crunch it at a bbq or decide to eat a cookie at a party, but I don't spend any time thinking about these foods. What I'm really craving is Water (oh, I so wish I could just chug a 1/2 liter bottle of cold water fresh out of the fridge) and fresh fruit. I have been thinking about just digging into a nice bowl of cut up melons, or a whole pear, nectarine, plum, you name it. At least having a chance to have more than a single bite of some fresh fruit. I ran across an online magazine photo of some perfectly ripe, uniformly cubed, watermelon mixed with some perfect blueberries and I swear, I must have gotten lost in that photo for about 5 minutes. The thought of having a bite or two just isn't doing it for me... I really just want to dig into a bowl. Blurggg. I just keep reminding myself that a year from now, this is no longer going to be an issue. Thank goodness!!!

How about you all? What cravings or lack of cravings surprised you?

I no longer crave sugary foods like cookies kr chocolate nor do i crave bread or chips or cakes or sodas... but man oh man..ever since surgery..i am on this sour kick...I always want to eat things that taste like lime and lemon...like lemonade and limeade and popsicles ..the lime ones..sour tastes almost more sweet and tart

Oh and im sad.i used to crave pudding and yogurt..i cod eat tubs of yogurt and now post op i cant hack yogurt much anymore

I had strange cravings for me personally. Spicy food though I'm allergic to peppers (assuming all kinds because I have had reactions to bell peppers, jalapenos and hot sauces). The next craving was alcohol, especially wine. I didn't drink much before hand, and wine was the last choice on my list if I did. And lastly a burger. I was never one to eat red meat but for some reason I just wanted to go to Ruby Tuesday and eat one of their new burgers they had on the commercials.

Then I realized all of my food cravings were related to commercials (Burger King with new boneless wings, wine tastings in the Finger Lakes, and Ruby Tuesday pretzel burgers). I'm not one to watch much TV but I couldn't believe how much it was influencing my thinking/cravings. I am much better now, but those first few weeks were tough. I just don't understand why those certain foods, especially when we all know there are a million other food commercials out there. It wasn't something that I craved or desired before hand so why was it after surgery.

I crave greek yogurt, apples, bananas and peanut butter. The weird thing is I hated pb before surgery.

Ive been craving lettuce..like a salad ..and corn..rice

I use to crave bake goods (brownies, Mexican sweet bread and cake) and the normal junk food (burgers, fries and pizza). I would rarely eat a salad and no tomatoes in my salad at that. I am starting my 7th week post-op;I now crave tomatoes, spinach and even salads. I also was addicted to sodas. Today I am 14 week soda free and I don't crave it at all. Which to me is a miracle in itself. I can not seem to find something that will quench my thirst though.

Having the Gastric Sleeve was the best decision i have ever made!

I crave salad, but I still can't eat raw veggies other than cucumber. I am really craving now is apples as it is apple season, but they don't sit well raw either. This summer I missed melon SO badly, but could not tolerate it.

I used to crave pizza but I've had the toppings a few times and it was disappointing so I am mostly over that.

I do love that my sweets cravings are so much lower than pre-surgery!!
