I had my surgery on 11/22. I got out of hospital on 11/24. They kept me the extra day because of pain. They wanted to be sure it was gas pain, which it was. I've been eatting greek yogurt, my Protein Shake and popsicles. Been kerping everything down. Its to cold to walk outside so i walk laps n my house. My first appointment is on December 2nd. I am on full liquids right now. I havent had a bowel movement. I have tons of gas.

Jen- You have to walk. And walk. And walk some more. Instant gratification. It hurts to get up but once you start walking you feel better. I promise!

yes it does help, but I can only walk so much before I'm beat. I wish it would just pass already.
Can you take Extra Strength Maalox? They gave me about 2 oz. in the hospital the day I had gas that kept me hospitalized an extra 1 1/2 days.
I was in so much pain 2 nights ago, I drank tea I walked, I took gas X, nothing helped. I put a pillow on my bloated belly and laid face down, only relief I had for hours. I slept like that, woke up and pain was gone. Passed some gas yesterday, but wasn't able to GO until tonight. Whew! So, I week post op and gas pain and bloating gone. Sorry, TMI I know, but wanted to give an end story to anyone struggling with gas pains.

Kelly you should get New Whey Liquid Protein shots. 42 grams of protein in each one, and you can mix it with water. 2 a day, Only way I'm getting over 70 grams my doc wants in right.

I had my surgery Nov.5th so far I'm fine down 37lbs. I still have a problem with being so tired but I've learned after I get in some Protein I start to perk up a bit. Just looking forward to the positive changes my body will make. So far my sleeve actually likes healthier options.

How's everyone's progress so far. I was sleeved nov 6th and down 26lbs so far. That is including my preop diet. I'm having a hard time getting in enough Fluid. I only get in about 43oz a day and that is if I include my Protein Shake. Also I worry I'm not getting enough calories. My day consists of a Protein shake, a Protein Bar, and maybe a few bites of chicken or refried Beans. I'm meeting my protein goal but that is only because of the protein shake and bar. Nothing tastes good. I'll make something to eat but then just can't stand to eat it. I know not meeting my daily goals is preventing me from losing faster but I keep trying.

I'm going through the same thing. I was sleeved on 11/26 and I'm down 30 lbs including pre op diet. I'm still on full liquids but I'm not getting enough fluids in. I know I didn't get enough calories in yesterday. I just don't have an appetite. I haven't even had my Protein Shakes because the one I've been using is making me sick to my stomach. I ordered Unjury protein shakes and I'm waiting for it to come in. I hope they are better. I have a follow up appt. today with my doctor so let's see what he says.

Hi November Sleevers! I was sleeved on Nov 27. Surgery went well. Although I did vomit 4 times after surgery due to the anesthesia. Once the nurses got that under control, everything was fine. Did not have a catheter nor a drain. Stayed in the hospital for 2 1/2 days.

Had my post op appt with surgeon and now on puréed foods. Living on scrambled eggs with cheese, tuna fish, cod, cottage cheese, yogurt with no fruit pieces, creamy Soups, strained, etc. not really feeling "hunger".

I've lost almost 25 lbs so far (including pre op diet).

Hope everyone is doing well. Happy Holidays!!!

Hello Nov Sleevers. I had my surgery 11/18. I'm down 23 pounds including pre op diet. I've been stalled the last week and a half, since going back to work. I know I'm not getting enough Fluid. But it's frustrating! I'm starting my workouts tomorrow, that's got to help. Anybody else hit a stall yet?

Hi Jen! I was sleeved on 11/19. I am also only down 22pounds since pre op and surgery . I have not lost any weight in almost two weeks. I am getting a little nervous about it but I keep chugging forward . Eating right .. Going to the gym. Don't have to go back to work until the new year. This stall has been awful! I just keep hoping it will end soon !

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
