What kind of pain? Sprain like or piercing shooting pain?

yeah I've been hobbling for a week. I have no idea why it suddenly decided to go out. I have read people say that as we lose weight, and our center of gravity shifts, until our bodies get used to it there will be some achy joints and limbs. I don't know if this is it or I'm just getting old faster than I should but sprained for a week.

If you feel anything that is sharp or migrating or non-sprain-like I'd worry but sprain, I dunno, seems normal.

Anyone else?

Thank you for bringing up this topic. This is so interesting to me.

11 years ago I lost quite a bit of weight and ended up with 2 herniated discs in my back with nerve impingement. Of course, that was a great excuse to stop working out and if I'm not working out what's the point of eating right...so silly, but I'm sure we've all been there, right? ????

So...I finally had back surgery in 2007 and haven't had any back issues until 4 months ago. I started having hip pain that was directly related to a muscle spasm in my lower back and then the numb toes started and it was 2002 all over again!

I was just chalking it up to maybe a work out gone wrong but maybe it does have something to do with our bodies adjusting? I'm so interested to hear other experiences.

I was sleeved on 9/9 and I have back pain too! I feel as if maybe (at least for me) it's because I'm not moving the way I usually do and my abdominal muscles are tensed in different ways than usual (because when I untense them I feel like my stiches are pulling). I'm also sleeping in a different position and I'm sitting differently too because my big incision is still kind of annoying me. Hopefully when our stomachs heal a little bit, our core can go back to supporting our back like it used to and the back pain will go away.

I was sleeved on 8/19, and absolutely had horrible back pain from about day 4 post-op to about a week out. The center of gravity thing is something I never considered! It could also have been spending a lot of time in one or two positions in the hospital bed that were comfortable (I was there for 3 days). Know that it WILL get better! Mine is gone now! Hang in there!

I did right after surgery for the first week, then it gradually went away since I started to move more and sleep in different positions.Try getting a massage to see if the takes the tightness away.

I've had muscular back pain on and off since surgery, and was worried it was kidney stones acting up. (It's not - whew!)

It comes and goes, sometimes enough for me to wonder what the heck is happening. I can see how all the changes going on in our bodies could trigger some weirdness. ;)

I had very severe back pain myself for the first two weeks after surgery; partly was due to all the gas...the hospital bed...and the surgery itself- one day i forced myself to go outside for a 30-40 minute walk and...i felt sooooooo much better the next day- walked the next day and felt even better- have you tried getting some walking in?

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
