I can't wait! I'm calling it Me Day! I was a little nervous until about 6 weeks ago when my 8 year old & I were talking about it & I explained what type of surgery I'm having (my mom had it about 2 1/2 years ago so he's familiar). He's is extremely excited because I will finally be able to get in the floor & play cars with him & play outside with him! That day, that conversation, confirmed my decision & I haven't been nervous since. I know I'm making the right choice, not only for me, but for my family as well.

I am also from Oklahoma and using Baileys. How long has the process taken you? I had first visit on Aug 19.

Y'all are lucky to be using the same one. I'm going through journey clinic in Norman. I just got approved and my first NUT appt is the 30th. It took like a week for Medicare Humana to approve me, but the clinic itself requires specific things. I'm looking at December or January.

I feel like for me that things are moving very fast. Since Aug 19 I have done lab work, dietician app, exercise consult, Cardiologist visit, Pulmonologist visit, Psychologist, and support group meeting. I will attend a seminar Monday night. On Tuesday I meet with Dr. Kirk and then the surgeon for initial consult. I hope to here something about a surgery date. At this point all I know is that Dr. Kirk said at my first visit that surgery would be before the end of the year.

I started my process in June and was actually ready for surgery in August but put it off until I could get more time off at work. They will move as fast/slow as you want to, depending on insurance requirements, they've got it down to an art with their processes. Keep me posted!

Different groups have different requirements. I'm not familiar with the Journey program but Bailey has everything lined out & everyone works together and has access to all the same records so it flows as smooth as you allow it to. It'll be here before you know it! God luck & Keep us posted!

How long after you saw the surgeon did it take to get surgery scheduled? I have my best friend also going through the process. She had her first appointment with Dr. Kirk a week before I did. She has not moved as quickly as I have through the process. We are hoping to have the surgery close to each other so that we are going through this at the same time. If you could let me know what occurs in the visit with the surgeon and what follows it would greatly be appreciated.

Journey has everything lined out too, but they insist on 4 nutrition appointments and they must be 30 days apart :(

Of course you have your psych, physical therapy and a group session. sleep study, etc. but all of that is scheduled pretty quick.

I'm excited to see how y'all's goes.

I had my initial with Katsis and then had to schedule a colonoscopy. I didn't get in a hurry for that since I knew I wouldn't be able to take off until October. My colonoscopy was Sept 4 and they submitted my PreD that Friday. Once I knew it was approved I called Katsis and scheduled. I had tentatively scheduled anyway so I could ask for my time at work. All I'm waiting on is my preop and surgery.

My best friend had hers at Weightwise as well! She loved her doctor.

I'm using Medicare Advantage (Humana) and had to go through a Center of Excellence and live in Durant. I drive to Norman and go to journey bc another friend recommended them. After researching I felt like they were right for me.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
