Finally sleeved september 9th

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved at 2 yesterday and I went in at 1015. The nurse tried to put my iv line in 3 different times and couldn't get it so then she went to get a different nurse and while that took a long time I had a lot of time to think that wasn't boosting my confidence in my decision if they can't eve get the iv line in. What if I am making a mistake ?

So I started crying because I'm a cryer and then a male nurse came and got it on the first try. That was probably around 1145 then I was scheduled to be sleeved at 1215 and it was 115 and so I went to ask questions and the nurse was like "yeah sometimes the doctor goes over just like any dr appointment and you want them to take their time" kind of snotty like. I told them I was just wondering because no one told me anything. Then they came in and wheeled me to the or.

That's the last thing I remember before waking up and questioning to myself why in gods name did I do this to myself. I asked my boyfriend why he didn't talk me out of it because the gas pain was so horrible and I wanted to cry. I read on here from a lot of people that the first day is tough and you really second guess yourself.

No complications.

Here I am September 10th and I still think I'm crazy for choosing this but as so many people say its worth it in the end and they would do it again in a heart beat so I'm just looking forward to being on that side of it. :). Hurray.

I was gung ho from the time I made the decision. I didn't look back....until i was laying on the table in the operating room. then as quickly as I thought, 'what the hell are you doing' they put me under and i woke up about an hour later! That was 3 months ago tomorrow. I have had little to no complications to date. I feel better, more confident. I puke every now and again, but while you're a crier, I'm a puker, always have been. I started in the program in Feb and lost about 30 lbs prior to surgery. I am now down 70.6 lbs. I am not losing as fast as I thought I would, but I am also eating things I never thought I could. so while I am not losing that fast, I can have a little chocolate when I want it! I know 40 lbs in 3 months seems like a lot, but most of that was in the first month, I have only lost 6 lbs in the past 30 days, but I am ok with that. It will come off, it's not a marathon (I am talking myself into this if you can't tell).

But seriously, you will have some gas pains, walking and burping will take care of those. You may throw up every now and again, but all in all this surgery is very worth it if you struggle with weight. Congrats on your decision!

Get your walking in!!! Even if the gas pain has gone away walk if you can, it can return.

Sounds like you pulled through very well. It is OK to second guess such a thing. I worry more about the people who claim not to ever doubt any of it!

Take care and keep us posted!

It is Ok to be scared, just be careful with your pre-op diet, and make sure you discuss your after pain meds and such with the doc and you should be fine!

I was questioning myself right up to them putting the mask over my face in the or. Do I really need or want this? Well that was May 1 st. Here on Sept 9 th I just lost my 85 th pound this am. I have given up 4 pills for type 2 and if my blood test is good next month I will give up 3 more! I look better but the real point is I feel better. I will not die because of food. I have kick the wall of fat away. You will question but 1 month from the recovery room you will be thanking any higher power you believe in that you did it.

Like you I wanted to back out up until I went under. One week later I feel much better and I am glad that I didn't jump off the table and run off.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
