Went for my first "walk" for exercise today! Nice walk in the country to the creek and back. Hard to quench my thirst so I just poured the water bottle over my head to get some relief (I'm in tx and it is HOT). Felt good to exercise.

Lmao! Now that's a way to cool off!

I was sleeved on Aug 28...I have stomach pains when I eat which makes it really uncomfortable. I also can't stand cold drinks but they are my favorite, especially since its so hot. I am already sick of the liquid diet thin and ready to move on to some REAL food. If I can at least get some seafood soon I will be satisfied. Other than those complaints I'm good. I went for my post op yesterday, 1 day shy of a week and I was already down 14.5lbs!!!

I feel your pain! I was sleeved on the 26th and can't wait to meet with the surgeon and move on to "pureed" foods- i want real food too! This liquid thing is not making me feel satisfied- i feel sooooo hungry!!! I've been religiously following the doctors orders as well and don't believe i've lost that much weight either :/ and i feel hungry!

I am also looking forward to sleeping in my own bed!!! I haven't been able to lie down comfortably and have to sleep propped up, much easier to do this on the couch so that's where I have been since Friday, the day I was released. Also, I know we aren't supposed to use straws but I find that it makes my liquids go down much easier!!!

I was sleeved on August 29th. I don't really have any pain from my incisions. I've been walking and climbing a flight of stairs a few times a day for exercise. Then on Monday evening, I started getting these horrible pains in my lower back. The only thing that takes the edge off is walking and laying down is a nightmare. I've never had any back problems before so I really don't know what's happening. It's like being in full blown labor. It gets worse at night so I haven't been sleeping either. I went back to my doc and they did blood and urine tests but all is clear. Anybody have an idea what this could be?

Hi everyone!

I was sleeved 8/28. I'm on the mushy foods part of my journey and I struggle to get enough Protein daily.

My incisions are all healing nicely, no infection, drainage of any kind, but I have some serious muscle pain in the largest incision.

i have yet to find a Protein Powder i like, so I've stuck to the Isopure drink, but I'm getting tired of it to the point that its a chore to get it down. i ordered some unflavored powder that i plan to sprinkle onto everything...not sure if that's unrealistic but its a good way to help meet my daily protein requirements in addition to what i already get in.

I'm appreciating mushy foods...so much better than liquids - have found some really tasty recipes that I'm so excited to try.

Has anyone experienced a change in flavors since surgery? Everything is just too sweet! i have to Water things down just to tolerate them. Things I used to love, like yogurt, are nearly intolerable!

I haven't had those, but I have a friend who has a friend whose dr said it was from losing weight so fast. Something about a change in the center of gravity? I hope it resolves for you as back pain is the worst.......Hang in there!!!

The drain is a flexible tube draining from the surgery area out to a flexible plastic bulb that is on the outside of your body. It drains fluids and blood...some doctors do this, others don't.

Hi all... I was sleeved on 17th aug and I feel fine apart from slightly dehydrated. I'm struggling to get anything down n keep it down apart from bits of Water. I don't feel hungry at all I feel constantly full and bloated but just worried I should be having more n keeping it down by now also trying hard to get more fluids down as I feel so dehydrated all the time but with not drinking so long before n after you eat it's easier to not eat and just keep trying to drink?!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
