100 mile challenge

Recommended Posts

Hey there everyone. Today has been a great day. My wife's surgery went great and the surgeon was extremely happy afterwards. I have spent the entire day at the hospital, lots of waiting and walking around between the waiting room, cafeteria, the car, her room, etc. I was able to get a total of 3.06 miles in today which puts my final total for the month of September at 126.9! I still can't believe I was able to do this so soon. Thank you everyone for the motivation! Great job and I can't wait to see everyone's progression next month!

I started about 4 months post op. But surely could have started sooner but was afraid to because I was still so heavy. Now I wish I had started sooner.

I'm glad you're not disappointed. I've said all along the goal IS to push yourself and move more. You did that. Proud of you.

I am reporting late but made it, barely, 100.2 miles. I like to live on the edge. ha ha. I was worried that I wouldn't make my 100 as the end of the month came closer.

See you in the October thread.

Butter, glad to hear you are doing well. Good job everyone. This thread was very motivating for me.

I was 6 weeks post op yesterday and I started this past weekend doing some short running segments in my walking. I started a light jog for about 50 yards at a time. Damn I run hard footed. I felt like Bigfoot running thru the forest hiding from the cameras. I will continue to increase my distance a few more yards at a time. I was going to start the Couch to 5K program this week, but with my wife having her sleeve surgery yesterday, I have decided to push that back to start next week. I cleared starting that program with my Dr. first.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
