September 2013 sleevers..Requesting sleeve buddies :)

Recommended Posts

I'm September 9th

There's 2 things I've found that not a lot of people talk about for the hospital

1) a pillow for a couple reasons

-after any major surgery there is gas build up' date=' you have 5-7 incisions on your belly, or if you cough, & for the ride home to help block the seatbelt.

2) gas X strips. Not much explanation here, it doesn't take 100% but it's suppose to help A Lot.[/quote']

That is awesome. Thanks I just picked up the gas x strips and I will bring my soft pillow!!!

I figure the strips can't hurt. I will be Happy once this surgery is done. I always over stress. I guess it's better than being under prepared.

Good Luck :)

Hello' date=' Nice to meet all of you other September Sleevers! I am so ready for my surgery! I had a 6 month wait for my insurance so I feel I have been preparing for awhile now. Three cheers for all of us making it this far. Here's to the rest of the journey![/quote']

I had to see a Nut. And the surgeon for 6 months as well. I followed their diet very strictly and lost 66 pounds on my own. I also passed the psych evaluation and mentally I am ready for this new change! Good luck to you.

I'm on day 2 of my Pre-Op I had a Headache yesterday & it's a lot less today. The Dr office has in their paperwork to not take ibuprofen due to it being a blood thinner, & to only take acetaminophen only if needed where they send you home with an Rx of it. I know my headache is caffeine related, I did breakdown & buy crystal light energy but only used 1/2 a pack of a single serving in a 16oz bottle of Water. Now it's pretty much gone. I've done the no caffeine thing before, but I could use Tylenol. I figure if that's my only kinda cheat. Then I'm doing good.

September 23rd for me' date=' in Overland Park, KS. Seems like everything is happening so fast. I get a little nervous if I spend time and start thinking about it. I have 4 kids so that is constantly on my mind (what if I am the 1%). I try not to think that way though, try to stay more positive. All in all the wife is being really supportive and looking forward to the new me!!![/quote']

I know exactly what you mean. Its hard ive been having my last minute regrets but then I think of my kids and my health and just want to live longer and happier. My husband is supportive to me too...that always helps. Hang in there best of luck kit.

I start my pre-op diet tomorrow (surgery 9/4) and I am getting kind of nervous... I decided that I needed to drink wine to calm my nerves! That and it will be the last time for quite awhile so I am going to enjoy it while I can! Just wanted to say good luck to all!

My surgery is Sept. 4th!! Yikes!! Nervous, but excited! Started my pre op diet a week ago and lost 6 lbs. One more week!! Had headaches for the first 3 days, but none since, actually less than usual. I wish I could eat like this rather than have surgery, but I know I can't long term. Definitely realizing what triggers my eating while on this diet, which is good :) I wish you all the best!

The Dr preferrers no caffeine during the pre op. It'll be fine just a day or 2 or headache nothing to bad. I have bigger things to focus on. :)

I agree with you. I wish to that I could eat like this and lose weight and not have the surgery too. But like other times, it will fail again.

Ive been having last minute thoughts lately. In fact the past 2 nights Ive been spending the nights tossing and turning. I read peoples comments about them never regretting their decision and if only they would of done it when they were younger. That does give me hope!! I feel confident however I need to stay motivated. This surgery is not going to make me skinny over night..my bad habits and failed diets can still happen with my stomach cut 85%. I can still gain weight..if that's the case theN why even put my body through such a shock..why endure so much pain if I can still fail? Ive beeN mentally working on my lifestyle its been 6 good months and Ive been able to lose a lot on my own. I know I can continue after surgery..its just hard when my friends tell me..."are you sure about this? Look at what you've done on ur own"? Has anyone felt this way? Please comment thanks.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
