day 1 of pre op liquid diet...failed already..

Today is day 1 of a 3week pre op liquid diet with Protein shakes, sugar free beverages and sugar free popsicles and ive failed already... i got through Breakfast shake and lunch=shake+chicken broth and then caved an hour later and ended up eating tequitos and a double chocolate muffin...How in the frig am i supposed to do a liquid diet for 3 weeks to shrink my liver? If it was slim fast plus regular juice i could do it...but I hate hate hate(gag) my Protein Shake powder..it tastes like koolaid thats chalky thats been overly sweetned...think Syntrax protein juice in strawberry kiwi..it is sooo disgustingly sweet...i hate it and i have a large tubb of it!

How do you survive this? How does anyone? I feel so "empty" in my stomach all day...and how do you survive when you have a husband and child that eats anything in front of you and buys junkfood?

Feeling so frustrated. I have been doing okay on my liquid diet. I have been managing to do two shakes and and half a can of soup, for a total of about 60 grams of protein. I am getting very burnt out on my protein shakes and am extremely frustrated by that. I am doing well weight wise and have lost over 16 pounds, but I am feeling like such a failure. My mood has also plummeted. I am not feeling as excited as I was on the first couple of days. Not sure if this is something everyone goes through or not. Any advice would be appreciated.

What you're feeling is quite common. No carbs, lower calories, no caffeine, nothing to chew on, massive detox, fewer calories---it's quite the whammy. BUT. Something changes a few days into if and you feel so much better. Your energy level returns and you are back to normal. As long as you keep away from carbs and sugar after that, that high will take you through to surgery. Hang in there.

Thanks. I am on day six todayand I feel good, but I am so ready to eat something substantial. I am trying to remind myself that eating something substantial is what got me here. I think I am just going through the grieving process and am mourning the "freedom" of eating whatever I want whenever I want. This is the hardest thing I have ever done so far and I am only on the liquid diet. I am so grateful for this site though. It really helps to know I am not alone.

I was SO sure I was going to fail. I knew I would be that girl who couldn't do it and then this magic sleeve was going to fail me because I couldn't do a simple pre-op that everyone else could do...yadda yadda. Negative self-talk. Somewhere in there, it turned into a challenge to myself, and that's how I pushed through it. It's not easy bit it's doable.
